Krita on android optimizations

Ah OSS community doesnt really like being paygated out of features. Storage/Marketplace for brushes / resources would probably more palatable.

Out of topic so digress.

@freyalupen
I love your list here. You have push significant android wants that help Ux in tablet/ keyboardless.

@BeARToys
I think if we could device a few more dockers for some of our needs that will probably the most doable things for now. I read about python in android and seems complicated at the moment.

A vertical menu bar like will be nice / vertical slider will help alot.
Then maybe proposal for a default mobile layout. something like if its a new install on android it will load that instead of default desktop layout.

atleast those while waiting for the main and harder development to go.

on other note and off topic: I personally willing to learn to code - my progress on that end is slow. Resources on C++ krita coding is sparse, and i dont really learn well on videos - i tend to read / with some examples to try and start exploring.

You know… It is not paygated, if you can setup it yourself. Bitwarden is a good example. It is open source. You can set a server up yourself, or you can pay for using the service. You also pay if you install krita via steam etc. And as service you do not have to worry about updating krita.

I don’t think it is really working with the current approach of using dockers and tweaking here an there to make it more usable then before. You won’t be able to ever finish one part. Krita is now on gitlab. Should we start proposing issues? :thinking: I mean forking the project, creating issues there and than linking them here…

If you want to start understanding krita, I suggest you start a new kde project an start programming your own drawing application.:face_with_hand_over_mouth: That way you learn far more.

I think there in lies the issue. Most user of apps like krita are not into tech or tweaking if they get bumboozled by an undo button they accidentally remove. A docker they accidentally closed, stabilizer they accidentally turned on. Setting up will be too hard for them. Installing ffmpeg alone is too hard of a step to most of our target user.

I have krita source on my PC and able to build it on my own - switch to whichever test branch is available. I have poke around it enough to know which is which when I was building my plugin. I just have attention issue. Tweaking krita is in the realms of things im interested, new drawing app is out of that even if as a test so that one wont hold my attention for 3s.

anyway that’s too far off the topic.

I still stand that while we wait for the progress of Android side of krita to be back on track. We can propose smaller changes and request non platform specific that are doable to make it easier for those in android to use it.
