I will forever be grateful to the developers of Krita for providing such a fine product for artists all over the world to enable them to create artworks relevant to their own cultural experiences and develop new narratives, especially in the developing world where there is still a deficit of relevant visual representation, especially in children’s and youth publications. Í am delighted to have just completed illustrating a children’s book for South African author Sipiwe Sikwila, all done in Krita!
Hello @Florisart and welcome to the forum
That is lovely artwork for the cover of a children’s book.
Are there more examples of your artwork inside?
It seems that Sipiwe Sikwila has a special interest in producing educational material for children, from what I can find out about her.
Hi and thank you for responding. It is Sipiwe Sikwila’s first book and a lovely story about a young girl, a big storm and her motivating her friends to assist their community devastated after the storm. A lovely ode to empathy, something our world needs so much more of. I will post links after publication. As for my own work, I work solely in Krita and it has been a most rewarding journey as I transitioned from traditional media to digital. I am thrilled to have been featured in Creativepool’s Member Spotlight this week which can be seen here:
My Creativepool profile page is here, all the artworks were created in Krita.
Your work is lovely, @Florisart. Welcome to the community.
I am interested in doing a children’s book and have been working on the artwork.
I would love to know how you did the formatting. Did you have a template to have the entire book as one file, or was each page it’s own file?
If this will be of any help to you, I use a free and easy to use program called Scribus and have formatted all my books for publication on Amazon. You will import your artwork, add text and export as a pdf.
