Krita tablet input has some weird lag at the tip of brush stroke

Type of device : Laptop PC, drawing tablet
Brand and version of the device: Asus TUF gaming A15 (FA507NV) - Wacom Intuos pro S
System : Windows 11, krita ver. 5.2.3

Alright so, this issue has been bugging me for quite a while now

Usually, when drawing on Krita my brush strokes are sometimes laggy and bugged, especially at the start of the brush stroke (vid for reference). Sometimes, if im drawing two short strokes one near the other, they would automatically add an extra line connecting both of them (but ironically when i try to record it it never happens)

example on krita

same issue when testing on the wacom properties settings

Sometimes it gets better, sometimes its more noticeable and annoying. I had this same issue on another computer too (desktop), before getting this one. Even updating Krita doesnt change anything.

If im drawing on Photoshop or something else like aggie/magma, this issue doesnt appear and the lines are smoother. This once happened on krita too, but then i noticed that the wacom drivers werent working and reinstalling them i had the issue back.

I am guessing this is a tablet issue? But still, i dont have any problem with other programs, so i wonder if its maybe a setting on krita, that im missing? My current pc is good enough and it should run krita well, so i cant tell what could be it…
I literally made the account here just to see if someone has the same issue or could be of help :')

Hey, welcome!

Or maybe you check my response in that topic some post below the postings @YRH mentioned, that was the solution for the help seeking user in that topic.

Good point

@YRH: It is most often the “misaligned” API. But we will see what @banban will help in the end. You never know it before.

I tried disabling Windows Ink on both, and i can see that the lines are generally smoother! And i found a solution for this

in your suggested thread, thank you!
But the lines issue didnt fix, now i also tried with windows ink on driver and wintab on krita and that didnt change anything :smiling_face_with_tear:

Usually it is best to use “WinTab” on Krita and your tablets’ driver, if that does not work than you should use ‘‘Windows 8+ Pointer Input (Windows Ink)’’, I added the mixed configuration only because of the very few users who stated that it would work for them, what I not really believe, I believe that they did not completely understand their interfaces, but because I could be wrong I thought to add it as a last resort.
Did you create a profile for Krita?
Furthermore, did you always confirm the settings made in Krita with the OK-Button and restarted Krita? That is really important.

Unfortunately, I’m not able to visit users to help them with their issues, because I believe that most issues can be solved. Often I have the strong feeling the issues can’t be solved because of misunderstandings, their inexperience, or sometimes out of the fear to damage something because they are not computer savvy, because of the language barrier. And then I sit here and am unable to help them, that makes me feel sad, not being able to help.

I havent had the time to test more, I’ll try again tomorrow by switching from wintab to windows and maybe mixing them, and i’ll let you know.
Thank you for your willingness to help, i really appreciate it!
Also!! Do you have any idea where i can find any WinTab option on the wacom tablet settings? I only found a tick to just disable Windows Ink. Does it automatically switch to the other API…?

You can’t mix the settings. The Wacom setting and Krita must match.
Yes, if you uncheck Windows Ink in Wacom, it means you are using WinTab.

I use my Wacom driver and Krita in WinTab mode and it works very well.

I tried putting both of them on WinTab again and on the advanced settings i put “Map on the entire virtual screen” and it seems to work better…

Ok, good to hear. Remember to use forced proportions, so that your gestures are not distorted.
