When I joined the Krita unofficial discord server, I was discouraged by it’s requirement to verify my phone. I’m wondering why? Was there too much spam? I’m not comfortable handing over my phone number. But without it, members cannot participate, which makes it useless. Does anyone know who runs it? 
I don’t think it is run by anyone of the team. The age verification is something Discord rolled out in many countries recently and they do it with phone, face scan or credit card. There’s probably nothing the “server” owners can do about it though. My personal opinion is to avoid Discord and any centralized billionaire owned services as best as you can.

Ok, thanks. It’s odd though because the other servers that I’m on do not ask for verification. 
I don’t know much about Discord or how it’s possible to influence age verification. Where I live it isn’t required in any case because it’s illegal what they do.

But underage persons have phone numbers too. That’s not a good verification method.

I’ve seen several posts on reddit where users are complaining about this new Discord requirement.

I personally don’t like the idea of subscribing to, or giving my information to, billionaire owned companies. Their priorities are never aligned with the average consumers’ best interests. But… we don’t have much choice these days if we want to stay connected across continents.

By the way, I like @Rakurri’s Discord server, Brush Heaven, much more, and it seems “I had luck” with that unofficial Krita server, back then when I registered they did not ask for my phone.
But I find that server is not even worth scraping for resources, because there was nothing which I did not already downloaded from elsewhere. With @Rakurri’s server you’ll sometimes find a bit that was not published here, but also that gets more and more seldom.

Yes, I’m on Rakurri 's server. That one does not ask for verification, so I’m sticking with that.

Can you share the invite linke for unofficial krita discord I’ve been trying to find it but all of them are expired
@Rakurri’s “Brush Heaven” is far better.
But if you really want to enter that unofficial server search for “Krita”, there is only one server named Krita. But do not forget, they want your privacy, and you need to give them your phone number.
