i’m using version 4.2.9 now and I’ve had this problem for a while, I tried switching to other digital art software but I just really prefer this one so I would like to have it working again. Every time I try to open it the launcher stops and closes when it gets to “loading plugins for krita/dock”. any help on getting this fixed would be great.
Which version of Windows? Do older versions of Krita work? Does it work if you start Krita in compatibility mode (google for it, please), or as administrator or as another user?
I have Windows 10. I have tried using a couple of the older versions and they do the same thing as well. Running it in compatibility and as administrator also has the same result.
And if you reset Krita’s configuration? See https://docs.krita.org/en/KritaFAQ.html#resetting-krita-configuration . Also check for a crash log and krita’s system logs in .appdata\local .
I was having the same problem. When the main window would load it was just white and would hang indefinitely, but renaming kritarc fixed it.
Krita wont open for me. I checked the task manager to see if it was open but nothing was there. i restarted my computer and had the same issue. I then redownloaded the installer to reinstall it and it said Krita was still open. i checked the task manager again and nothing was there. Any help would be appreciated i love Krita, its the first and only program i use.
Okay, downloading the installer again and reinstalling Krita is useless. It won’t make any difference. Since you’re talking about “the task manager” I assume you’re on Windows.
Here are a couple of things you can do:
- Check whether the latest beta still crashes on startup
- Check whether you’ve got broken icc profiles installed in c:/windows/System32/Spool/Drivers/Color/. This is particularly likely if you’re using lenovo hardware (laptop or monitor)
- If the beta also crashes on startup and you’ve eliminated the possibility of broken color profiles, go to help->report bug, and report a bug. You will need a new account for that. * Go to %LOCALAPPDATA% in the Windows explorer file manager and attach the following files to the bug report:
krita.log
krita-crash.log
krita-sysinfo.log
I don’t know if you are still trying to figure this out, but I found a solution that worked for me with the same issue. Go to the properties and go to advanced, then click Run as administrator. That fixed it for me. Hope this helps you or someone else like us.
