I am using a Huion inspiroy 11qk, have the latest version of the Huion driver, the lastest version of Krita, and a new computer I just built (3080). I’ve tried Windows ink on, on both the driver and Krita, I’ve turned the sensitivity button on Krita visible and on, I’ve re-downloaded both the driver and Krita multiple times + 1 version older, I’ve restarted my pc, and I’ve messed with my pc’s pen settings. The pressure sensitivity works everywhere besides Krita, even the driver’s built in tester picks it up. (I have basically consumed any and all fixing tutorial content pertaining to this).
I seemingly fixed the sensitivity issue temporarily by messing with the pressure sensitivity adjustments on Krita (the line in the box), but then it went back to not picking up my pressure after an hour of working, nothing was reverted back. It also has this input lag again which doesnt happen when the sensitivity was fixed. I feel like I’m haunted by the ghost of my grandfather who didnt want me to draw for a living. Any advice would be appreciated!
Okay, you are using a Huion, then first create a profile for Krita in the driver interface, click on the top right of the driver where it says “All Programs” and select “Add a Program” in the dialog that pops up, next switch off Windows Ink via “Enable Windows Ink”, then you can close the driver.
In Krita, go to ‘‘Settings’’ >> ‘‘Configure Krita’’ to the ‘‘Tablet Settings’’ and set the point in front of ‘‘WinTab’’, then close the dialog with OK at the bottom right and restart Krita. You said that you have set the button to switch pen pressure in the toolbar, so check whether the use of pen pressure is activated.
It may still be necessary to adjust your pressure curves, but first report whether the pen pressure is retained when using the profile.
By the way, it is the most pointless thing in the world to reinstall Krita in case of such difficulties, you will only waste time and nerves, as the configuration files and resources are not taken into account by a reinstallation roulette, and there are very good reasons for this.
Furthermore, it is much more important to have a powerful CPU with high Single Thread-Performance and huge amounts of RAM, than 3080 or even 4090, for Krita it would be fine to have a GTX1050 or RX550, because the CPU is needed to calculate the things on canvas, the GPU only paints it to your display.
For all problems with pressure sensitivity etc, you should use the tablet tester at
Settings → Configure Krita → Tablet Settings → Open Tablet Tester.
Resize the Tablet Tester window to make it comfortably large then draw with varying pressure on the grid area.
The pane on the right will show a record of received tablet events.
Until the record of tablet events is showing sensible and useful values, there is no point in adjusting curves etc in the main application UI.
@Michelist I’ve messed with the profiles already to no avail and the Wintab option, and I have a 32GB RAM, sorry for being a PC noob xD, thanks for the explanation. @AhabGreybeard Yeah, that’s why I found it weird that it worked temporarily after adjusting the pressure. I know that on the Krita Tablet Tester it still tells me it registers the pen as a mouse, but after everything I’ve tried, I can’t permanently make it recognize it as a pen input.
Edit: got it working again, I have no idea if it’ll stay this way, but here are the stats. I am praying it stays this way.
At the moment, when you say it’s working, can you copy/paste a few lines of the tablet input record to a reply here.?
If it stops working, post the lines of the tablet input record again.
When you make changes in the Huion tablet setup utility, make sure to press Apply or OK and the close the utility. Then also restart krita.
When you make changes to the Tablet Settings in krita, press OK and the restart krita.
Huion accepts the settings directly, it does not need to be confirmed in any way, it is sufficient to close the driver interface after you have made your settings.
I assume you’ve already tried the Wintab vs Windows Ink changes, making sure they match at both ends.
I’ll suggest something that will seem strange:
In Settings → Configure Krita → Tablet Settings, enable 'Use mouse events for …"
Then restart krita and see if that affects anything.
This is the third time I’ve made that suggestion and it’s worked.
Other people have suggested this as well, to good effect, a few times.
It’s the last thing I think about because it shouldn’t have any effect, based on its description about right/middle clicks and convertible devices.
I’ve no idea why this works. Maybe it should be the first thing I suggest in future.
