Last version for Windows [SOLVED]

I cannot use Krita anymore. Somebody in these forums said that the latest version can run on Windows 7 so I downloaded it and installed it, uninstalling the old version in the process. It wouldn’t open at all and no warnings were given during installation. I uninstalled it again but when I went to the older version download section of the Krita site, I didn’t know which version to use. Which is the latest version that is compatible with Windows 7?

I found version 4.4.8 and it is working nicely.

If you’re using Windows 7 in 64bits, any Krita version should work
If you’re using Windows 7 in 32bits, you have to download Krita 4.4 in 32bits version

I’m using 64 bit and it didn’t work for me. Maybe something to do with my graphics card? I’m not very knowledgeable on the technical side of things.

At least, any version of Krita that was released before the end of support for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020, should work. That would be Krita 4.2.8 (direct link to setup version).

Yeah, that was me. Sorry to hear you’re having trouble, but I’m convinced there must be other reasons than the Windows version. You could try the portable version which doesn’t require installation - just download .zip, extract to where you want and run krita.exe in the bin folder. Although I’d be surprised, if that changes anything, you’ll never know with computers…

As I said, it’s running here without any problems (I use portable, never tried with the install versions).

I’m the only person I know of who has had this problem. Everywhere I have looked, people have had no issues with running it on Win7. Thank you for the advice anyway. I will try the portable version later and report back.

The portable wouldn’t work either. I’m sure it must be a hardware issue. Mine’s a very old laptop.
