Portrait from months ago. This only exists because I had been drawing too many women in a row. I wanted to push his proportions further but chickened out.
Beard detail. Rake brush worked nicely for this.

Wonderful work as always, @Celes
I like his traits. Bit of a coffee shop looking bloke, haha.
That light in his forehead is so balanced, - something i struggle with - the marks and wrinkles are so well presented.
Thanks for sharing with us, and have a fantastic week!
I love how you suggested the texture of his beard without being tempted to detail every single strand of hair, as I usually see with male portraits. Top quality painting!
Excellent work! Quite a handsome man.
#jelaous
good job
Beautifull, thatās really well done. I love your textures and brushwork
Love the beard, the snow on the coat and the cord. Looks great.
Looks amazing. d===( ̄ā½ļæ£*)b
I thought itād be funny to give him fantasy-like clothing to go with the contemporary haircut. The best part is that I just had been looking a lot at Rockwellās work and wanted to do a similar haircut, I just made it longer. Trends walk in circles.
And Iām glad the forehead worked. Itās one of these regions that significantly impact likeness but gets completely overlooked when people teach drawing.
āHere are the eyes, you draw them this way, hereās the hair. Oh, yeah, thereās this big empty area in between, donāt mind it just get the distance rightā.
Thank you!
It can be hard to control the amount of detail sometimes, I just over-rendered a whole lot of grass then had to take it down a notch for example.
Because Iāve been gaming for longer than Iāve had serious academic interest in art I tend to think about it as games LOD, level of detail. You gracefully reduce the amount of detail in the background and in this case, where it doesnāt matter, because what we really want to look at isnāt lots of tiny details, are points of interest. So a specular glint here, a sharper value change already do the job without taking away the breathing room.
Thanks! Hah, youāre the second person calling him handsome. I suspect itās the beard, theyāre so cool!
Thank you! Fun fact: I used to not be able to draw men at all.
Thanks! I tend to go a little wild with brushwork if I donāt control myself, hah.
In hindsight the coat choice wasnāt very clever, I spent a lot of energy rendering that fur, but Iām happy it looks somewhat wet and Iām glad you find the snow good enough! Iāve never seen snow up close.
Thank you, sir!
Beautiful work
did you use the brushes present in krita??
If so, would it be possible to know what they were?
Thanks
@Anna_Rita_Verni Thank you!
@CristianPerez.Artist Itās been a while since I painted this so I donāt recall exactly everything I used.
I used the default b) Airbrush Soft for sure for the base, transitions and atmosphere, but I also used quite a number of custom brushes for the texture work: A couple of pencil brushes from the Sketch V2 (SK2) bundle, a modified version of the rake brush from the Bug Craftsmanship bundle for the beard, a Memileo Impasto brush + a custom textured brush I created for the snow. All with lots of freehand selections to control their spread.
Thanks!
