📢 Looking for those with some Krita animation skills?

Aight I’m gonna keep it short folks!

This request go out to the awsome krita community, all you wonderful and tallented krita artists out there/here .. yup, its a voluntary job, aiming for those with the will and time to spare, having knowlige in some basic animation

-What kind of animation??

Here’s the thing:
I’m working on a tutorial Reel-template (together with @sooz ) for display’s on social media, on diffrent krita functions, fetures, thech etc. That will be featuring Kiki, the Krita mascot.

I’m looking for someone who can help me create a short sequence, a very short animation (using Krita, of course), where Kiki:

• winks one eye,
• moves her mouth (like she is saying something),
• waves,
• and maybe gives a thumbs up or something similar.

This will be a super short thing, like a 0.5–1 second animation. And will be used as a ending frame in this “reel-series” on different Krita fetures.. cool right?

-Am i supposed to draw Kiki myself?

Nope, not really. Think overoainting an existing image (read further down) , then stacking those frames of overpaints, in an animation sequence of some sort.

I am super-crappy at animations myself , never tried actually, but is also a bit “up to my neck” in the edeting/construction-part of this project, so i need some community support!

Things that are interesting is, ofcourse : your artwork ( it will be creddited, if used) , timelapses of you working with krita, preferably with ui/interface showing, and so fourth.. the more material the better.

Maybe make a finished artwork piece advertising the position and add a link sending them over here, since there are significantly more folks over there you might get a little more traction.
Also, sounds like a ton of fun! Makes me wish I was good at animation

Perhaps the word “explicit” puts some people off because it’s often used in connection with adult content, which is frequently labeled as “explicit” to grab attention and attract users looking for NSFW content—and nobody here wants anything to do with that?

So it might make sense to rephrase the question:
“Seeking users with good animation knowledge/skills,” for example.

What is needed is someone with particular painting skills. All those changes need to be done in a way that gives smooth and even motion when incorporated into an animated output.
Let’s say 1 second at 24 fps which is a total of 24 (perhaps 12) overpainted images.
Incorporating those images into an animation is a fairly simple technical task.

Maybe it’s just my dirty mind messing with me but when I read the title “with explicit animation skills” I thought of NSFW animations. Perhaps rephrasing it would be a good idea, I could imagine it’s not just me thinking this. x3

Guys, you are great.. thank you a thousand for response and for good advide.. as you can see i revised it, changing the title, removing “explicit”, i didn’t think about that really.. i guess ‘words and their meaning’ in my eyes, tend to differ from what others “read” into their meaning in context, good you told me this! ..and also I changed the way it was written, less intimidating i guess

I see. What if you just made a post that simply said “looking for animator, information is in the description”
Then add a link that brings them over here? Idk I’m just kind of thinking out loud. Like you wouldn’t have to have a pic of kiki necessarily, more just like a flyer trying to grab the animators attention

Hi Dima. Thank you so much for thinking of me for this project, but I’ll have to pass.

Even though I’m skilled in digital painting with Krita, my focus and technique are strictly in realism. Painting a cartoon-style character like Kiki requires a specific type of styling and line control that is very different from my work. Furthermore, animation isn’t just about painting different poses; it requires a deep understanding of tweening to create fluid movement, which is something I don’t study.

On top of that, I am currently overwhelmed with work and simply wouldn’t have the time to give this project the attention it deserves. I appreciate the vote of confidence, though!

I can give it a try. No assurances though. Animating in krita is not fun and i get quick burn out in 2d.
