Last month I was watching Hide-san channel and experimented trying to improve. I managed to arrange character proportions and kinda changed workflow according to Hide-san recommendations starting from action line then croquis lv1 and then draft sketch and then lineart. Now I do less fundamental mistakes with anatomy (though it’s still not perfect) and able to draw in more complicated angle and pose with less mistakes. A good achievement I think… If I only had to start with that…
Nice one! The things on the plate are a nice touch I swear we used to have one of these retro glass holders around the house when I was a kid. Or maybe it was at my grandmother’s? Anyway…
Not sure if I said that before, but your pixiv account looks amazing! Really great stuff there, yep, you really nailed it with this OC of yours Um. Let me save some praise for the next time, I guess!
PS. I managed to get into a routine and draw along with Hide videos/stills almost daily now. I really like his style. I hope to try shading eventually, but I don’t think I’m ready just yet. Maybe one more month…
Thanks! Yup, my grandma had exactly the same glass holder, I spent some time to find a reference for it. Kuro likes retro style things… And… what about preserved fishes? Not the best snack for the sweet tea… still…
Thanks again for opening Hide-san videos to me! It’s super useful. Though I still feel like junior amateur artist with nine-year experience. I believe, incorporating Hide-san approaches into daily drawing routine will improve my skills as well.
I saw your exercise results, that’s amazing! You made them cleaner than original… and they look proportions and pose-perfect. Good job!
I chose different approach, mostly working on fundamental proportions, not being distracted by details, keeping the image sketchy. Still it doesn’t exactly match the original but the the image should look proportions-correct from the distance – one of my main problems. The last page is with exercises
I suppose it’s ok if you’re hungry enough, but it’s better if you also have a piece or two of bread. Fish under tomato sauce is better with rye bread. Then sweet tea fits better😆
