Hi, creating a simple animation. First I created a Blank frame and then duplicated it to 12. I am trying to add different texts to each. But it the text 1 and text 2 overlaps. Is there any way to turn on text 2 at 1 and text 1 at 12? Thanks
It looks like you incorporated the text and text bubble into the character layer.
It would be better to have Text-1 and Text-2 in their own separate paint layers then animate them using right-click → Create Duplicate Frame on their timeline at frame-0 and moving Text-1 to frame-12.
(I find it confusing that you have ‘text-2’ before ‘text-1’.)
I think you want the turn on/off to happen at frame-0 and frame-12, not frame-1 and frame-12?
Then you could turn them on/off by putting a blank frame where they need to turn off.
Thanks. I did try a few things, that is why screenshot looks messy
This is fresh
Perhaps I should rephrase my question. How to make one layer visible at time -1 and not time -2? How to make it appear only at time -1?
It would be better to describe ‘time’ in terms of frame numbers.
Previously you were concerned with frame-0 and frame-12.
Your text layer is not an animated layer. In fact vector layers can’t be animated.
Convert the vector text layer to a paint layer with right-click → Convert in the layers docker.
Then make that paint layer animated as I described before:
Then:
Thanks, I am almost there, I got the 1st frame right, second, I need text -1 to go and text -2 to appear, I chose blank frame for Text -1 and it is gone. But even after choosing duplicate frame for text -2 , it is not there.
Would be nice if I can know what is wrong
Edit 1:
Looks like I got it. Thanks
There is something I should have emphasised and repeated:
You need to move the keyframe to where you want it to first be seen.
Then you create a blank frame where you want it to stop being seen.
As for your text-3, it first appears at frame-0, it is displayed (as held frames) at frame-1 and frame-2, then you’ve put a blank frame at frame-3.
After that it will no longer be seen.
For some reason, you’ve also put a blank frame at frame-18 and frame-40.
To move a keyframe, you grab it and drag it along the timeline to where you want it to be.
Thanks, I am learning
