Ouch, surprisingly I managed to finish it in time! Must make a note to self to join challenges at the start or to choose speedpaints  I’ve never rendered so much in my life, ‘twas fun but scary xD also chose new style/technique what basically only added difficulties instead of my hopes to make it easier lol.

Ok, I cheated. I decided to hide my faulty rider (I’ve no idea how to draw horses…) behind the magical effects because “5 seconds before” is more like the spell being cast already IMO. At first the idea was of the dragons preparing to cast.

Well, basically it is fanart. These are youngsters (hence no golden scales and smaller “crests” on their necks") of faerie dragons from HoMM3. If you played - you know how nasty they are as opponents, but boy do I absolutely adore them! Being young I suspect they cant yet cast Implosion, but some lightning-related stuff - totally! I bet the rider feels the static lol. So aye, the goal was to show effects of the magical stuff in the middle of the spell being activated and hitting the target, etc etc. I absolutely hated every part of this work before I finished it, yet even having horrible times in general I managed to finish it and even be satisfied! Honestly it became somewhat very personal and important. I planned it long before discovering this month’s theme but then decided to join because the scene seemed to fit in some way.

And aye ‘tis 4000x2480 so I couldnt compress it adequately. I will include the link to the full original file because the resized one lost lots of details which were a great pain to render lol.

I hesited so much about what idea to pick and what I wanted to do (or how to no go for something that need a complex background) that I considered to just do a bomb with the limited time (so much days wasted xp).
Wich ended up with : “TNT in crash team racing would be more fun than a simple object”. It’s rushed and … I did end up with a complex backgound (should picked the mine and no tube roo), but it was fun to reminisce about ctr.

refence used : the game CTR nitro-fueled

So cool!

Well…the ideas I started out on just didn’t turn out as I saw it in my mind. A common tragedy for me! I’ll redo them as a WIP some day!

So, here is a tropical twist with my version of Howler monkeys referenced here: https://factanimal.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/howler-monkey-facts.jpg

What will they do?

There are so many great submissions this month! How in the world am I going to choose a winner? !!!

Hey there! Here’s my entry.

Cover your ears everyone, because in a few seconds, this rooster will administer you an unforgettable wake-up song! … And immediately after that he’ll end up in @Michelist’s frying pan, as I’ve been told, but this isn’t my responsibility anymore… :face_with_tongue:

It took us a little time, but yeah, it’s done! :rooster:
I’m not sure yet how I’m going to explain all the feathers :feather: :feather: :feather: and bloodstains :drop_of_blood: :drop_of_blood: :drop_of_blood: around my bed to the cleaning lady and the nurses at the nursing home tomorrow morning. They’re not likely to buy my story that we, the residents of this wing, were playing Cowboys :cowboy_hat_face: and Indians¹ :bow_and_arrow: last night and my headdress didn’t survive after a hard fight.
Although, the rooster grew so big and was so well-fed that I think everyone who got a bowl of soup will defend me on this and confirm my story. So, I have a lot of witnesses on my side!
And we have to say, it was delicious! :pot_of_food: :spoon: Thank you!

¹ Of course Native Americans respectively First Nations, the incorrect term Indians was chosen because of the authenticity of that old game we played as kids.

@sooz, when the topic closes and after we vote, how long does the winner have to answer with a new topic for the next challenge ?

My final submission for this month: Cutting it close!

This was all done using one brush, rdi) Circlebrush, with only minimal undos and erasing, no blending, no filters, in the chiaroscuro style, only 3 main colors, and only one layer (aside from the black background and the signature). I tried to get as many past thingies in as possible! :exploding_head:
