March 2026 Art Challenge – WIP and Discussion Thread

I have to say, this challenge has been particularly hard to get in for me because the theme is too wide, could be anything, so it really didn’t help with my chronic indecisiveness…

But, here’s what I’ve started working on. I think you can guess what happens in 5 secs! Better cover your ears!

Boy, I say, boy… that’s a mighty fine Leghorn rooster! :rooster:

That rooster is about to end in soup when disturbing my sleep - so I know what happens to this proud rooster then … :face_savoring_food: :fork_and_knife_with_plate:
So I hope you serve us a real juicy rooster @Corentin!

I doubt I will be able to finish it in time honestly. Breakdowns and headaches slowed me down pretty much. If I joined earlier - would absolutely finish in time. But now I doubt, tomorrow I’ve a dentist’s appointment and today wasna able to touch any of my hobbies even tho had a few free hours.

I’ve no idea how to draw horses and the whole rider part is still left to finish, plus I absolutely hate foreground and will have to fix the bushes/forest and add lots of effects. Fr doubt I’ll manage in time. Will try anyway ofc.

Here’re some WIPs:

I so love the cat’s emotions! You got me inspired to draw more cats :upside_down_face:

Hope you finish in time ~

I just wanna show off the close-ups

This work became very important, I learnt a lot with it and am so proud of myself for managing the scary deadline (took me 6 days with huge fulll day breaks for personal troubles n life-managing stuff) and for knowing I will never fail deadlines even for forum challenges no matter how much side issues I have. Prolly will be redrawing it once in a while to see my own progress with art, but for now I managed to fix all I hated about the initial piece and am truly satisfied with it and myself. Prolly wasna a good idea to choose such a huge work for a challenge with deadlines n stuff, but it happened already lol. I like even the rider here, tho I’ve never drawn horses before and used no reference photos here as would get distracted by cool horse photos and would make no progress with the artwork, so it was decided to use no refs whatsoever here - just to speed up the process as I have great troubles with focusing my ADHD-powered brain, especially when stressed out and barely functioning in general.

So aye, am just proud of everything about this work and ‘tis the first time I wanna show off something lol.

@ah-dorchaich , honestly any one of these close-ups would have an awesome submission on their own! Your detail work here is really amazing!

I got lost, I already vote once this month, but I did not see the paintings that I nominate. and I dont see them in this also, by any chance we got 2 contest this month?

Hi @Joseiby_Tapia - There are two polls each month.

11th - 14th we vote for the Best of Krita-Artists (i.e. members nominate other people’s work)

26th - 29th we vote on the Krita Monthly Art Challenge submissions (this is where members read what the new art challenge is and they submit their own work)

Hi, @sooz thank you, so I lost the voting for the best artist, so sad

thank you kindly! it really means a lot as I’ve never rendered that much in my life before and I enjoyed the whole process and loved the technique and the style so will draw at least for myself this way (somehow this artwork is the least popular of all mine so I will have to try others styles for other people). I do like detailing things and even with big canvas I end up almost pixelarting it all but it brings me joy so why not to spend a dozen hours on one dragon artwork lol.
