Merge vector layers

Hi, I’m a beginner and I have a problem, I’m trying to merge 2 vector layers, but it becomes paint layer

Hello and welcome to the forum

That doesn’t happen for me with 4.4.0.
Are you sure that you have two vector layers, not a vector layer and a paint layer that you’re merging?
Are you using right-click -> Merge with Layer Below or are you using the Ctrl+E shortcut?

ok, thank you very much and I appreciate your time, I did the Krita 4.4.0 test with the same original Krita file on Windows 10 64 bit and it still happens the same, and I do the 2 ways

Can you check the layer blending modes of both vector layers and make sure they are both Normal?
If they’re not then that is probably the cause.

both blending modes are normal

Did you put the vector layers into a group layer and merge the group? This will produce a paint layer AFAIK.

If the suggestion by @dreamkeeper isn’t the problem, can you provide the .kra file via a link to a file sharing service or website?
(If you use Google Drive, please make sure it’s a link that’s set to share with anybody and not a link that needs a Google sign in

hello, answering your question, the layers are not in group

I have created a new file from 0, when performing the procedure the same thing happens, perhaps within the Krita configuration?

I don’t know of any settings/configuration that would cause that to happen.
Can you make a new two vector layer document with content on each layer, save it as a .kra file and then make the .kra file available as a link to a file sharing service or website?

ok, I’ll try to simplify the file through words, a square and a circle each on its vector layer, without effects or filters, just a vector, when you want to merge it becomes a layer of paint

Yes, you explained that perfectly well in your first post.
I then explained that it doesn’t happen for me.
So, there is a possibility that there is something unusual about the image you’re making which causes this. So, if you share the .kra file then it can be looked at to see if there is anything which is causing it.
So, please make a .kra file and share it via a link in a reply.

I am very grateful for your help

There seems to be nothing unusual about your .kra file.
I tried it with version 4.4.0 on Linux and Windows 10 and when I do Merge with Layer Below on ‘Capa vectorial 1’ then I get a vector layer with two vector objects in it as is shown here:

Your problem is strange and I have no idea what could be causing this.

Do you have access to another computer that you could try this on?

OK, I can reproduce that. It happens if you select both vector layers before merging them.

Here’s the thing: the function is called ‘merge with layer below’ - just select only the upper layer, and it should work as expected. As far as I know, this function is supposed to work only with 2 layers at a time. Hope this helps.
