I think this is not a new issue.
I tried to save meta data like author etc as entered in the krita settings. When exporting the jpg, I can’t unselect the “anonymizer”, well I can but it gets checked again when I save it. Also the file is then corrupted to open in another software like photoshop.
This is with latest Krita 4.4.1 on Windows 10.
This is working for me on linux with 4.4.1. Let us wait for another windows user to confirm and then file a report.
Thanks. This has been since a couple version like this but I never really cared cause I didn’t use meta information.

I add a new Author info in the app settings, but the Anonymous is always selected. Not sure if this is correct behaviour. Edit: I see the author is selected in the menu tho
I export witth the meta data checked “exif” etc and anonymizer not checked. But after saving theres no Metadata saved to the file.
As mentioned on my Windows10 I can’t uncheck the anonymizer option in the export dialog (jpg)
Curious, there’s no reason that I can imagine for it, but if I save the same image as a jpg on macOS with 4.4.0, there’s no dc:creator metadata entry, while when I do that with the Linux appimage, there is. Looks like a bug.
In general, the metadata system in Krita is pretty old and suffers from having started out as a research project, back in 2007. I’m not surprised there are bugs…
I am having the same issue.
I export a tiff from darktable with title, tags, description etc… When I go to file > document information > general none of it is there. And when I export the image as jpg, with exif, iptc and xmp all ticked, there is no metadata in the saved file.

The metadata in the tiff exported does show up in Geeqie, so it definitely exported out of darktable properly, meaning this is a Krita problem. Does anyone have any ideas?
EDIT: If I export a jpg out of darktable, Krita still doesn’t show the metadata in ‘document info’ but does retain some metadata when saved as jpg. It seems to retain the exiv data and tags, but not the ‘description’ ‘title’ etc…

With all these things about AI and stuff I’m trying to use metadata as well, but I can’t save the metadata of any image. I follow all the instructions here and in the krita’s user manual and the metadata is not being saved. I’m using windows 11.
Which metadata do you mean and where do you try to store it?
In File → Document information → General tab, I can store text in the fields for saving in the .kra file.
Some of that is stored in the metadata of an Exported .jpg file but it doesn’t seem to be stored in the metadata of a .png file, as determined by examining it in GIMP.
Hi. Yes, that’s my problem. I went to settings and made a profile with my author info and then I activated it like this:
well some file formats simply do not allow meta data. I don’t remember which by memory.
GIMP does save a lot of metadata in a .png file and in a .tif file.
In Krita 5.2.1, under Windows 11, the Author metadata is not saved.
Neigther in .kra, .png, or .jpg.
I set my Author profile in the configuration, I select my profile in parameters and check to sign with the Author data.

thats bummer after 3 years I still cant save my meta data …
I never noticed the meta data not being saved. It is true that it menu weird and sometimes I forget using it properly but it works. I even wrote a script that reads and writes the meta data.
Reading a kra file
Did you create your author profile and after activate the profile on the menu and then save the dirty document?
If you don’t save the settings metadata will not be saved and you can only save if the document is dirty.
It has worked for me. I think we need to report a bug so that this is not missed
