I always used the little button in the pop-up palette to flip the image and it worked great until few months ago. I can’t tell when exactly it started happening but instead of the image flipping along the middle of the screen, it now flips around the centre of the palette which is annoying because if I want to see something mirrored and I press RMB somewhere on the side, the drawing flips completely off screen and if I want to keep it on, I need to click in the middle of the drawing and cover it all with palette. It wasn’t an issue before and I can’t find any option to switch it back to normal. I asked about it on Reddit a while back but there was no response. I couldn’t find anything online about it either so I don’t know if it’s a bug or intended function. If so, is there some deep hidden way to turn it off? I’m using the Steam version on Windows if it matters.
I think the popup palette mirror button got converted to mirror around cursor which is Alt + M the normal mirror is M which is mirror around canvas. I do not know when and why this change happened. but as a workaround you can press M to mirror.
Wow, that’s a terrible change. Even just as a concept, flipping image around a big obscuring thing. And sadly, my desk doesn’t let me comfortably set up both keyboard and tablet within reach so every time I want to flip the image I need to awkwardly lean forward and reach far behind the tablet. That’s why majority of shortcuts I use is on the tablet/stylus and why I liked the mirroring through RBM so much. Is there really no way to change the button back to just M?
it was a year ago. In the merge request @AlansArtLog mentions that the mirror button in the overview docker has mirror around canvas as it is and only the popup palette has been changed. So perhaps you can use the button in the overview docker as a workaround?
I didn’t mean the flip around the cursor itself. I can see it being very useful. Just combining it with the popup covering so much of the canvas around the same point used for flipping seems counterproductive. If you set a point to mirror around, it’s likely that you want to see the stuff around that point. Yet the best option imo would be to have it switchable in the pop-up palette settings tab. But there’s nothing there.
Sadly I don’t really have room for an extra huge docker just for one button.
I’m all in for put an option in the Pallete Docker for which Mirror View should be avaliable. The more customizable the program the better it is in my opinion. Not to mention it empower different users with different workflows.
Same here, as the one who requested the around cursor.
I was pretty much content with it being only a shortcut and action accessible one, but i think there was also a number of user who like that mirror mode so it was switched.
Maybe an option in the palette section of setting to set what mirroring mode is preferred.
