Monthly Art Challenge – April 2024 – Topic: Animal Curiosity. Challenge: Limited Palette

@Corentin Could be!

Just a backswimmer (Notonectidae). They live underwater and swim facing up. I thought them and water striders together have so many interesting art possibilities, but playing safe this time as a beginner in art.

I would like to submit this entry:

I’m not sure if this satisfies limited pallette requirement but at least the main subject is somewhat noticeable. Also the main subject is 100x scale compared to real world cousins.

One colour. Yes! Nice job.

Here’s my entry for the April Monthly Art Challenge! I’ve also included the masked area of James Gurney’s YRMBY color wheel I used for the palette.

Here’s my entry for this month’s challenge, a curious little spider exploring a human
(Don’t worry, this is a friendly little explorer!)

I used an atmosphere with accent gamut as my limited pallette, and the accent was almost exclusively used for the background of the piece

Thanks very much!

Wonderful picture!

:spider:
I love these jumping spiders. On the one hand because of their interesting appearance, physique and eye position, on the other hand I admire their ability to make long jumps. In comparison to their body size, a documentary about jumping spiders once said that a human would have to jump about 150 meters to have jumped as far as the best jumpers of this particular spider species. Jumping at prey is also their way of catching prey, as they do not build webs and therefore have excellent spatial vision.
Since I could probably go on for hours about these little jumpers, and thus go completely off-topic, I’ll refrain from doing so and end here.

It occurs to me that I should read more about spiders, that was entertaining as well as informative, thanks!

You know how it’s gonna end though, when the human realises… :scream: SPROTCH :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Reflex!
@Michelist it’s unfair to compare, they have more legs than us!

Amazing! I miss fireflies, I don’t see them around anymore.

She must also be a Disney Princess. She sings and birds land on her. :slightly_smiling_face:

But ours are much longer…

Not if we adjust the scale!
That’s what we were assuming from the start, remember?

Thank you! I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s noticed the absence of fireflies. Granted, I live in the desert now so I wouldn’t be seeing them anyway but even before I moved, they just didn’t seem to be around anymore. Sad and frightening.

@jimplex yours is my favorite. you got one of my votes chief.

anyways… my entry.

I have zero idea what I drew… :man_shrugging:

green, purple, and orange. it was four hues altogether when I started… I did use the “hue” variation setting when I laid down my colors, so I technically got a few more colors in the end.

Thank you–much appreciated!

Well done on your entry–your animal has definitely made me curious (I want to know where that earring came from!)
