Man, this year was a good one for me with Krita challenges. I played, I think, 8 or 9 times? I typically do only five or six. It was a good year to be engaged… as for everything else this year… well, lol.
Anyways, my final entry for the year is “Parol,” traditional Filipino Christmas paper lantern;

Since I had no other idea (at least not Christmas-related), I decided to turn my joke of last week into a proper illustration and did a fanart of Hellboy! 
Let me introduce the one I’m sure you’re all waiting for: the big Red himself! 
Don’t let him near your Christmas tree though, because he can be a bit clumsy…

I would have liked to work on this longer and add snow, but this is all I have time for right now. It’s Christmas in the old west with Grandpa bringing home a fresh cut tree after a long day’s work on the ranch.

For this month, I chose “Gifts awaiting morning”.
Thank you for the challenge, it really makes pictures feel better with more intense shadows. I tried to apply this to previous month’s entry, and yes, there definitely weren’t enought of them

My entry - “Heralding Angel”
I drew my inspiration from traditional Christmas carols/imagery, and also past experience. The theme(s) of this month’s challenge reminded me of a Christmas Card series I painted a couple years ago which used this technique. In all three, the light from the Star of Bethlehem created strong contrast in the compositions. And now I know that technique is called “Chiaroscuro”!

Thanks to @Elixiah and @edgarej for the topic and challenge! I don’t think I would have tried this style and setting without this month’s challenge. Of course, both of your entries were very nice, indeed!
As I look through everyone’s posts this month… just wow! So many different takes on the Chiaroscuro style, and they’re all so holiday festive!
@I_J10 - It took me a second to see the forest through the trees, but such a cool perspective! And I love the SNF Squirrel Dancers! So creative!
