Don’t know if I’m done messing with it or not. This is a fun one. I started out trying to keep it really loose, using mostly RGBA brushes, but I kinda enjoyed finishing it out and doing the grunge textures.
Work In Progress of my old, Victorian rocking horse. (Well, not MINE, I’m using a reference photo I found online). I did the bright red background so I can see if I miss any bits with the light colours. I wouldn’t see them with a white background.
It’s a good job we have all month as this is taking ages. I don’t know what I was thinking deciding to do such a detailed piece. I’ve the background to do yet!! If I submit this with a totally empty room as the background then you know my eyeballs couldn’t take it any more.
Have used the basic-1 as the flats and am using wet brushes and the ‘texture big’ brush to put in detail over the top. I really need to look into downloading additional texture packs for cracks, grains and such. (And foliage come to think of it). I love doing digital art but I’m still such a noob regarding the actual tech of it all.
Beautifully done! I love textures too and have been watching several tutorials on how to make your own brushes. It’s surprisingly easy to modify an existing brush into anything you like in Krita, save it with with your own name, then it sits right in your brush library ready to use. Here’s one of the tutorials from this site that I really enjoyed and has helped tremendously with understanding how brushes are created. I need to work on the perspective some🤔. It looks like the duck toy is too big. Probably blur the background or just go with a solid color, and get rid of the background? Idk.
