Hi @Sketchy
I think the first two bullet points in the rules will help you decide.
No one scolded me for using the Jungle Book’s characters last month… ![]()
Good point! I’m doing it.
Please don’t rely on the mods “catching you” to decide if something is allowed or not allowed. We won’t always recognize that something is fan-art.
Here’s the forum guideline for fan-art:
While posting Fan-art the onus for acquiring the permission for using the character from the franchise holder lies with the poster/user.
Love the idea and you’re already capturing a lot of personality with very simple forms!
I know, I was kidding about the “scolding”.
But I know that generally speaking, fan-art is accepted for non-commercial use, as we do here…
Even non-industrial commercial use seems to be tolerated in some cases: some artists do commissioned fan-art for a living! ![]()
@Corentin I was pretty sure you were kidding about the scolding. ![]()
Already so much atmosphere to it–that reflection off the wet sand is gorgeous!
Hey guys! I wanted to share with you a funny little story that is related to this month’s topic. ![]()
First I need to say that I live in the countryside and my windows are particularly reflective because they have an anti-UV filter inside, which makes the glass darker. The result is that I often have some birds hitting the glass, presumably because they see their own reflection and they think it’s another bird coming to challenge them! I’ve had several sorts of birds along the years, some common blackbirds, some magpies (I thought the corvids were smarter than that but apparently not! LOL), but these days it’s a cute little sparrow hitting my bedroom widow all morning every day. He’s quite relentless! I took some photos yesterday that I wanted to share with y’all.
I don’t think I’ll exploit this for my entry though, not only because I have other ideas, but also because even though the reflection is the cause of the bird’s behaviour, it’s impossible for me to take a photo from outside where we would see the reflection, without scaring the bird away. I could only get close from inside because he couldn’t see me through the glass of course. And I tried to shoot the exact moment where he’d be flying and hitting the glass but it’s impossible too, the little fellow is way too fast for my old camera! ![]()
But if this inspires some of you, feel free to use it. ![]()
Make a painting of a perched hawk (or similar bird of prey) on the outside of the window?
Why? I like those birds visiting me despite the little noise, I don’t want to scare them away! ![]()
Maybe finished… dunno yet Lol Not enough contrast? She’s reflecting on her day while the sun is reflecting off the sea.
Background is referenced from my own photo taken at St. Vincent Island. The girl is just ad-lib.
It’s beautiful!
But I think the shadow cast by the head and the hat could be improved, making something sharp like what’s happening on the sand…? ![]()
Not sure where to start/stop shadow lines there ![]()
i put a bird feeder outside my window so my cat can see them , it’s tinted so they don’t even who is looking
i am toying with a bird idea, it’s in the maybe pile ![]()
If you called it finished right there I wouldn’t be upset! That’s like a Salvador Dali or something! ![]()
Your reflections are a bit scary!
(I wish they added a “scared face” reaction too with the likes! LOL). Also I think there’s a little problem with the prespective of the table feet and what’s on it.
But now your drawing looks like it’s from a role-playing gameboook of the 80es! ![]()
