Sketches of January

I was trying out my customised brush for my more simplistic cartoonish style. It took me days to get the brush look like what I want. It was tiring, but at least I’m happy with the results : >

Another sketch!

Sketches of February

First sketches for this month! : D

This time, it’s sketches of a flash game that I like

I’ve fleshed out this sketch a bit

I have the admit, it was very time consuming on trying to figure out how his hair should flow and also the stubble. I had to look up online tips on how to do those.

I’ve also made some sketches on an old OC of mine and experimented my simplified art style! I’m not satisfied with the design yet, but I like the colour scheme. It may change later. The OC’s name is Anguin.

More sketches and exploration of Anguin’s colour scheme and her magical snake form! : D

I like the eyes of the big figure down in the left corner, I guess it could be worth a try to work that sketch out.

Thank you for the compliment!

I think it’s a nice idea to flesh that sketch out a bit

I drew some bones!

To tell you the truth, I hate drawing a skeleton because of how complicated it feels to draw the skull, ribcage and pelvis. I drew one (to an extent) anyway because I picked up a habit of drawing skulls recently. Although I’m not good at it, I noticed I have improve a bit on how I draw the skull. The ribcage and spine is…meh, passable. The pelvis however is still a pain. But, I am happy I managed to add a bit of depth in the skeleton sketches.

SKETCHES OF MAY

I’m trying out a new art style based on the those cool stickman styles from the web!

I was feeling a bit nostalgic when I was looking though some stickmen flash-related stuff, so as sort of tribute to the stickmen games I like, I made an artstyle based on some of them.

To add individuality, I gave them different kinds of bodies instead of the usual “default stickman” (which probably diverge the style far from where it should go, but I did it anyway because of Sift Heads and etc). I also gave them clothes to distinguish each other a bit more.

At first, they don’t really look stickmen like for me. To be honest they look like overly-simplified characters. Then I thought, “The stickmen colours are usually limited, like they either just black or their bodies focus on one colour. So I shoud make their bodies match their hair. Also, their limbs are kind of hose-like, so I should change Character 4 a bit.”

I added white lines on their heads so you can see their faces clearly.

Here’s what they look like without their clothes and hair. Character 1, 2, 3 and 4 look a little stickman-like.

I drew all of them in one layer btw. It feels little faster and less overwhelming when I did that. Maybe because I don’t have to feel dreaded by the sight of 10 layers lol.
