Type of device* : 2-in-1 laptop + MPP 2.6 Pen
Brand and version of the device: MSI Summit
System** : CachyOS + KDE Plasma
Overall, I’ve had less problems using KDE over XFCE to properly differentiate touch/mouse/pen input, so I’ll just say it comes down to Wayland; still, I assume most of the small input detection errors are hapening outside of Krita’s ability to fix these.
The MPP Pen is always detected with no problems by the system/software as a pressure device, but touch is a different monster.
Oftentimes, after a restart or creating a new file, Krita will read my touch input as a “left click” rather than finger swipe, and two/three finger gestures are total jank, working very rarely how they, in theory, should. This is less of a plea for a fix, and more just my personal workarounds to the issue!
- When touch gets read as mouse input, just hovering the Pen near the screen solves the problem fully
- Since gestures often don’t get registered properly (most often they’re read as one-finger tap, rather than two/three finger taps/swipes), I just use the top toolbar instead. Not sure how to turn off some of the gestures, though
- Curiously, all pinch/zoom/move actions always work fine & are butter smooth, so 0 complaints there!
- For navigation on a single illustration, using the navigator with touch is probably your best bet
- Using the brush/palette dockers is a bit wonky, but 100% reliable with touch/pen, so that also works well
These are the things I’ve spotted so far. Will add to this thread if I find anything else! I’ve been pleasantly surprised by Wayland + Krita’s performance with the touch/pen combo overall, so again, this isn’t as much a plea for a fix but just general things I’ve spotted.
