I have been searching the internet high and low to find answers but nothing has worked! I can’t seem to figure out why this is happening. I have used .wav and .mp3 files for audio but no sound is playing. I can’t figure out what’s wrong! Can anyone help???
Hello and welcome to the forum
Which version number of krita and which operating system are you using?
Does the audio get rendered properly into the .mp4 output video file?
(Please use the VLC player if you’re using Windows.)
A shot in the dark but when rendering the animation i think there is a checkbox to render it with audio ( i am unsure but i think there is) check if it’s marked. That is if you mean on a exported file.
But sometimes audio just doesn’t work in krita when animating in the program. It’s unfinished and broken, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t.
Also check if the audio is not muted in the timeline if this is your case.
I am using Version 5.0.2 and I have Windows 11. I have yet to render anything. When animating I will add my audio to the timeline and click play to see if my animation syncs to the audio but nothing plays.
Thank you so much for replying. I should have been more specific. My problem is when I add audio to the timeline and press play to see if my animation syncs to the audio, no audio plays. I always check to see if it is muted and it never is.
It would be a good idea to Render it out to .mp4 and see if the audio plays properly from that.
Download this build of ffmpeg:
https://www.gyan.dev/ffmpeg/builds/packages/ffmpeg-4.4.1-essentials_build.zip
(The latest build is 5.0 but there have been some problems with that in the recent past.)
Extract it and point to the ffmpeg.exe file from the Render Animation window in krita.
I see well like i said this is an unfinished feature full of bugs, don’t know if anyone will be able to help much with it. If you depend on audio sync for your animation you could try doing the roughs on pencil2d or opentoonz then export the image sequence to Krita to clean up things. Then when you have everything ready just export again to image sequence and use a video editor and add audio and adjust the frames.
I would say unless you are doing tests dont try to render your full animation in Krita, especially if it has audio it’s just troublesome.
The only issue with that is, even if the audio plays after rendering, I need the audio to also play while I make my animation so I can sync it. It wont matter for me if it plays after rendering if I cant even sync my animation, if that makes sense.
Thank you. I think I’ll try that! Which would you recommend is the better program; opentoonz or pencil2d?
really depends on what you want pencil2d is easy to learn while opentoonz is more complete but has a learning curver, there is also tahoma 2d that is based on opentoonz. but cant really say which would be a better program, opentoonz is more complete but i do like the simplicity of pencil 2d
I don’t know if you are familiar with this side of youtube but I like to post videos where I create animation memes which are little animations in sync with music. I currently have 9k subs but was only animating on a tablet using apps. It held me back a lot. Now that I recently got a new laptop I can do waaay more so I’ve been trying to find the perfect animating software and editing software for a beginner pc animater. I’d like to eventually get up to using Blender but I downloaded it and it was way too complex and overwhelming so I’d like to start small. Is there anything you can recommend with that info?
i am somewhat familiar with animation memes. Blender has a learning curve but its worth trying to get into it, the good part is that the shortcuts are usually the same so even when editing videos you will use the shortcuts you are used to with 3d modeling or 2d animation.
If you want to start small then pencil 2d is a good start. as its simple to use and learn and i think the audio works fine in it. if you feel like it doesnt have everything you need then you can step up to tahoma2d or opentoonz (tahoma seems to have a better user interface). Now if you want a video editor i think kdenlive is easy enough but hitfilm express has a free version, i think davinci resolve also has one.
Like i said before you can also use a workflow that you do the timing and rough animation in pencil 2d and refine in krita if needed. I recommend looking into ed tadeo on youtube as he makes a lot of animations in krita.
Thank you so so much. That helps out a lot!!!
