Hi everyone!
I decided to start sharing all my works here, including sketches. In this thread I’ll be posting both older and new drawings of food.
Any feedback or tips for improving my skills are very welcome!![]()
That avocado is so realistic that it makes me squint at it. It looks so good your detail is amazing. Honestly both the avocado and egg look amazing. It’s cool too with the crispy edges and craters in the egg. Great work. Thanks for sharing.
I truly appreciate it, your comment gave me so much support.![]()
I agree with Hallie_Charmly, these are two great works of food art.
The avocado looks really photorealistic if viewed from some distance. As for the egg, maybe the shading below/around the egg yolk could be improved (too much gray shadow?). But it’s hard to say without a reference picture.
Thanks a lot for the feedback! I’ll make sure to share the reference along with the work next time🙌
Wow! This is so good! I want to eat the avocado so bad! It looks tasty! ![]()
The egg looks great to!
The only tip i can give is maybe try to add hard/more prominent highlights. You don’t need to add to much, but with eggs they tend to have a harsh sheen on them. So if you add a hard highlight here and there, it might help with make the egg look less soft(?) But other than that, the egg looks tasty ![]()
Thanks a lot for your comment! I’m really happy you enjoyed the drawings
And you’re right about the highlights — I’ll make sure to improve them in my future works.![]()
Yes! Wow, it looks so much better!
Hi everyone! I hope you love pastries as much as I do, because I’ve prepared a new drawing for you:
I made this drawing using a free stock photo as a reference. Sadly, I don’t know the photographer’s name to give proper credit:
Hope you like this little bun
I’d love to hear what you think!
This is crazyyy! WOW!
Thank you!
This is really good! (And maybe it deserves its own thread, so that it shows up in your portfolio as well).
It would be interesting to see your work in progress. Maybe you have saved some files in between which you could export als image, or you can show the progress via separating the layers?
How long did you work on the bun drawing?
Wish i could eat it ![]()
Thank you so much for your feedback! It really means a lot to me. I’ll think about making a separate thread — at first I didn’t expect the drawing to turn out this detailed
. I do have a few progress screenshots (not from the very beginning, unfortunately), but I’m still figuring out the best way to record my process:
In general, my stages look like this: sketch → base colors with important accents → sometimes blending → then working on details segment by segment until the drawing is finished.
Drawing is my hobby, so I can usually spend a few hours a day on it, depending on how things go. For this piece it took me about 8–10 hours overall. I could have finished it faster, but it was my first time painting pastry texture, so some things didn’t work out right away, and I also spent extra time experimenting with brushes.
For my future works, I’ll make sure to add step-by-step screenshots or even videos)
Glad it looks delicious — too bad it’s only pixels and not the real thing ![]()
Grrr. I’m hungry again. I think I need to add this URL to the block list of my firewall… ![]()

Maybe you already know, but Krita (except on Android) has a built in recorder (found under dockers) that takes screenshots at certain intervals. If you want you can later make a “timelapse” video out of these screenshots.
I just tried it out myself - export was not working on my Linux, but when I used the path “usr/bin/ffmpeg"for the encoding software ffmpg, it worked fine. The benefit of this solution is that it can save space and is easy to use over several drawing session, with pauses etc. The downside is that you can’t see the brush and the user interface, only the brushstokes and the canvas.
More info here: https://docs.krita.org/en/reference_manual/dockers/recorder_docker.html

Wow, that’s really helpful, thank you! I’ll definitely try it in my upcoming works)
