I managed to find the multibrush so I could use the mirror tool once, but afterwards it stopped showing up in my tool options dock (I turned off the vertical and horizontal modes so I could sketch normally, that’s when I realized later that it was completely gone). I tried going to setting to see if I could reset what was in my tool options, but it still didn’t show back up. Does anybody know what happened or how I can access it again?
Hello and welcome to the forum ![]()
This needs some clarification about what and where things are happening, or not happening. There’s also some terminology confusion in your topic post.
You don’t need to use the Multibrush Tool in order to use the Mirror Tools.
The Multibrush Tool is in the Toolbox, not the Tool Options docker.
The Horizontal and Vertical Mirror tools are icons on the Toolbar.
Can you post a fullscreen screenshot of your krita window to illustrate the problem?
Thanks for the clarification! I was confused since I also had the multibrush options (with drop down options and such) in the Tool Options Dock initially. Now it looks like this:
I’m not sure it’s a problem anymore since you’ve clarified, but it does seem quite empty. Is there any way I can rotate the mirror lines when I use it in the location you showed me? I know I could when it was in the Tool Options Docker.
I can understand your confusion and there are many options and possibilities that probably don’t make sense until you use them.
It’s a good idea to know where the manual is. It’s well written and has a good search facility and has some good tutorials too.
Your two screenshots show the same thing.
You have the Freehand Brush selected. This is the ‘classic’ painting tool with lots of possibilities, mostly in the Brush Presets docker and in the Brush Editor.
The Tool Options docker shows the options and properties of the tool that you’ve selected in the Toolbox. The Freehand Brush doesn’t have much in the way of interesting options.
The Horizontal and Vertical Mirror Tools that you see on the Toolbar are not really tools in the same sense as those in the Toolbox. They are a kind of additional or auxilliary ‘mode’ thing. If you activate them, the Freehand brush will be mirrored and the mirror lines can be dragged around as you wish.
The Multibrush Tool, as shown in the screenshot I posted, is the one with many interesting options that are listed under the Type drop down in the Tool Options docker when the Multibrush Tool is selected.
Mirror is one of those options and you can rotate the mirrors of that tool as well as move their origin.
The Horizontal and Vertical Mirror Tool (modes) can also be used with the Multibrush Tool and that really is confusing if you do it, especially if you use the Snowflake Type of Multibrush with offset origins on that and the Horizontal and Vertical Mirror tools as well.
It would be useful for you to explore and play with the Tool Options of the different tools to see what they do.
You can always ask for advice here if things get too confusing
