My project didnt save even though it said it did

I saved tons of times, and when i closed it it asked if i wanted to save and i said yes. When I wake up in the morning, it didnt save for some reason. This is my first time using Krita so im probably doing something wrong.

Welcome to the forum, @Hatyy.

Do you remember the exact name, including the file extension? Example: picture.kra? Or picture.jpg?

In order to make your artwork, did you begin by opening a photo? Sometimes people do that, not knowing that Krita will continue to use the photo’s file name (and extension and folder location) unless the user manually changes it to a .kra file.

Hello @Hatyy, I’ve changed your topic category to Support and Advice: General Questions.

What is it you see (or don’t see) that means it didn’t save?

Does the file not exist in the place you think it should be?
Does it exist but when you open it, the work you previously did is not visible?

Please explain what is happening.
Ideally you’d be able to provide a full screen screenshot as part of the explanation.

The file still exists, it just didn’t save.

What didn’t it save?

Did you add some paint layers and paint content on them then save that and find that your painted work wasn’t there when you next opened it?

Did you add some frames to an animation and then save but they weren’t there the next time you opened it?

What is it that causes you to say “it just didn’t save”?

Also, please note the questions from @sooz, in the first reply to your topic, and please answer those questions.

I added paint layers and edited some existing layers.

Yes, I do remember the exact name, and i began by opening a photo. It is a .psd document in case that helps.

Oh so your exporting not saving. You should have saved into krita file format and then export it out. Because well that might happen.

Do you get the same problem if you create a new file, make layers and paint in them, then Save as a .kra file, then close krita, restart krita then open the .kra file you just saved?

It saved before, though. I guess i have to start over.
