New files can't be saved on Samsung Tab S9

Type of device: Android tablet
Brand and version of the device: Samsung Tab S9
System : Android 13

Description of the issue (you can include screenshots): Came across a very annoying bug. New files don’t save. Well, they are saved, but they have no content (like, the size of new files is always 0B) When i try to save a new file, no indication that something goes wrong pops up. The version of Krita downloaded from Google play. Everything was fine until yesterday. Existing files still can be rewrited and updated, but, i can’t save any new versions of them. Tried to enlarge the available space in Krita settings and also reinstalled the program, but it didn’t work out. If anybody had a similiar problem and found a way to manage, please, comment!
Also, tried to install Krita from the Krita.org, yet no new version works with my tablet as smooth as GooglePlay version. But i tried, but also couldn’t save anything. I tried to change the directory files, still not working

Hello @RentedRope and welcome to the forum

I’ve edited the title a little to add more information.

Did anything significant happen yesterday or shortly before yesterday that might have caused this problem?

Pinging @sh-zam who is the main android developer.

Hello! About something significant: no, actually not a sign that something went wrong. I was working on image and after a while tried to save my work as usual, creating a new file so I could see progress. Nothing happened, file was simply not saved. Well, it saved, but it’s totally empty
When i tried to use krita-org version to save any new file, it also showed me a note which said “failed to create a backup file”, I assume it can be a clue. Still, I wasn’t successfull in my research :frowning:

Found a possible solution, probably this bug occured because of a new Samsung update, which came with some new security feautures. So, the solution is this: I have to go to Settings—>Apps---->Krita---->Mobile data. There appeared a new slide “allow data usage while Data saver is on”. Tap on it. After that i still can’t save a file to the Pictures directory, but I’m able to create a new folder in Documents, and there saving works just fine.

I’m glad that you’ve got it working in a way that’s more or less useful for you.

I hope that sh-zam or someone else with deep knowledge of the android file system can give advice about this.

Is that something to do with an automatic cloudy backup?
If it is, try disabling it then see if the problem still happens.
Automatic cloudy backups running can cause file access clashes/problems.
