Salutations, I know Krita has a part dedicated to animation, you can use it to do animation stuff. Because of this, I have a question.
Well, I technically have a few questions, but didn’t want to flood this site with a whole bunch of topics dedicated to one of the many questions I have, as a beginner.
Story you need to know:
I had used my stimulus check to get a Mac recently (8th gen, if that is important), because my Acer laptop was getting over heated with having Krita, college programs, Steam, and Discord in it. So, naturally it would start to screw up, so I decided to get a Mac and make it a 1 TB and I am currently saving up money to make my Acer into a 1TB.
Well, my college geology class wants me to make a project and I like to be extra. So, even though I haven’t done animation before, I want to make an animation that is quick and small (maybe multiple small ones), put it in either iMovie or the Windows movie maker on my Acer, and put some audio (my voice) in there. But, again, I’ve never done animation, used Krita on my Mac, nor do I know how the Krita animation files work. I want to learn. This brings me to my questions:
Questions:
Is there a Mac version of Krita?
if there is, is it possible for me to make an animation in the Windows version of Krita and put it in the Mac version and vice versa? I noticed in my Krita, that there is an account option that you can have in the program, but it will only let me be a guest and nothing more… is this only if I have the paid version of Krita?
Can Krita animations be placed in iMovie (Mac movie maker program) or the Windows movie maker?
Do you, who do animations in Krita, have any tips that I should follow while doing this?
Thank you,
I hope you have a great rest of your day!
Yes. Kra files (kritas project files) can be opened in any Krita version.
There is no paid version, Krita ia completely free. I have no idea what the account option could be.
No, not directly but this is normal for any animation software. But you can of course edit the exported video files in any video editing software. Krita isn’t a video editor.
Just type "krita animation beginner guide"or something into youtube, you will find lots of useful tutorials. The subject is far to broad to give any advice when you don’t have a specific question.
With how you answered the third question, I want to make sure I am understanding this. As long as I export it from Krita (making it into a new file) I will be able to put my animation into either iMovie or the Windows movie maker, correct? I just can’t put the Krita file itself into the movie program.
Which type of files do you recommend for that, if that is the case?
I personally don’t even export as a video file in krita but instead export it as an image sequence (a series of png files) which I put into my cutting program.
If you go to Settings and click “Configure Krita”, about halfway down the list that appears you’ll find “Author”. That should allow you to make a profile, which I believe makes it to where you can transfer things more easily. I could be wrong though.
The author profile is only for metadata. Some files like png allow you to embed additional data like your name, website or document comments. That’s what author profiles are for.
Metadata is data that describes other data. In the context of pictures/photos the image itself is the actual data and metadata could be anything from who created the work to where or when it was created, a description, subject, exposure (for photos) and more.
