Krita can’t detect my stylus.
I’m running the software on macOS Monterey 12.2.1
The tablet is a Huion H610PRO(2048), the drivers are all installed at the latest version “Driver_12.2.2”, and the tablet is connected, the pen pressure on the tablet tester works just fine, but when I open up Krita, enable the pen pressure icon from the toolbar and go to “preferences>tablet configuration>tablet tester” all the inputs are reported as mouse inputs, so accordingly when i try to draw a stroke on the canvas the pressure is all maxed and evenly distributed on the line drawn.
Please help.
Hello @Jhin and welcome to the forum!
Honestly, I can hardly help you, as I don’t know much about Macs and never owned one myself.
So I can only suggest you a general solution attempt, something that at least has helped quite often, even with Macs – but there is no guarantee of success.
Please uninstall your tablet driver, shut down the computer completely, i.e., power off, then restart the computer, and then reinstall the driver according to Huoin’s instructions, after you have reinstalled the driver restart the PC again after you have shut it down completely, so like the first time with power off.
I wish you good luck!

I tried uninstalling and installing everything with pc restarts in between as you said, but the problem is still the same, both my huion pen and tablet work just fine in other programs, only krita doesn’t detect my pen as stylus.
Thank you for taking your time to try and help me anyway @Michelist.
Does anyone else have this stylus detected as a mouse problem on mac krita?
Help!
I read of another user discovering that they had to give the Huion 610PRO driver administrator privileges in order to work with Krita. This was a Windows environment, not Mac, but just maybe this will help?
Here’s the post:

I had the same issue and it tuned out to be that my nib on the stylus was to short to detect. Hope this helps.
Hello @SidetrackedArt and welcome to the forum!
But it works in other software, I would say there seems to be another issue.

I have already confermed that, both Krita and the tablet driver have administrator privileges, both before and after i did the whole reinstallation process, otherwise the pen pressure wouldn’t work on other programs too.
The other programs that I’ve tried are, Sketchbook, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and the trial version of Clip Studio Paint, all of these didn’t give me much problem when it came to set up everything.
What just came into my mind, did you create/assign an own profile for Krita in your tablet’s driver?
Michelist
I have just tried that, but the problem still persists, to give more information the pen that i’m currently using and having trouble with is a Huion PEN801
The Huion driver itself only makes me change either the pen’s settings or the tablet buttons configuration, it even comes with a small window to test the pen (just like the Krita one) which works fine as well, receiving pen pressure inputs without problems.
So I don’t think the driver has the feature to create profiles for specific softwares, I could be wrong here, but doing some researches I haven’t found anything like that.
Unfortunately, the Huion manual for your tablet is not very helpful, especially when it comes to Macs.
With my current Windows driver, the profile creation function is accessible from the title bar of the driver window. In earlier driver versions, you first had to click on a gear icon in the title bar to get to another menu level, in this menu level there was the possibility to assign a profile to a software in one of the menus there. Possibly there is also this in your driver!? Just click through the buttons you haven’t used yet!

I don’t see any feature in the driver resembling a profile creation function, as I just said only pen and tablet configuration.
Even visiting the Huion website I can’t seem to find anything related to such feature, could it be that Krita can’t support such a tablet on a Mac?
Also I forgot to mention that my version of Krita is the 5.0.6 (released on the 27th of April 2022), which I believe should be the latest one up to date.
I have even tried unistalling the 5.0.6 version of Krita to try the 5.0.2 version uploaded on the 13th of May 2022 in the “older versions” section on the Krita’s official download page, but it still had the same problem, all the pen strokes were detected as mouse actions on the Krita’s Tablet Tester.
That seems rather unlikely to me, Huion tablets are widely used, including yours. And just because it’s a bit older, there should have been other support requests like yours for incompatibility of this tablet with Krita on Macs here on the forum and on other platforms on the Internet - I just couldn’t find any matching hits when I did an Internet search (this topic was the only matching hit).
It seems to be a specific problem which is not common. You could try to contact Huion support and tell them about your problem. I would definitely ask about the possibility to create profiles, even if you can’t use it with Krita, you can use it with other software.
I’m going to change the title of the topic a little bit, hoping to attract more Mac users to the topic, maybe someone will find this topic and help you.
Michelist
I’ve sent a ticket to the Huion Support section hoping to get a positive feedback.
Thank you for your help.
@sugored @Blue-Mage @Unknown1 Searching for a solution i stumbled upon your posts which seem to depict a similar situation as mine, did you manage to find any definitive solution on this problem?
If yes could you please kindly share some useful infortmation?
I couldn’t get it to work with my old tablet but that one was well over 10 years old. When I bought a new one I experienced a similar issue in the beginning but it was resolved by updating my tablet software. If you tablet is a Huion their support team is very helpful.
I unfortunately still could not get it to work on MacOS, but on Windows it was basically plug and play, everything just worked.
