This is a close call since the average is low in this one. I am bit confused about the results what do others think?
50% positive, 40% neutral, 10% negative. It looks to me like it qualifies to be featured.
Admittedly, I’m biased.
The issue is about the neutral votes . How do we consider that. But I think 50% positive is okay to be featured. Featuring this now.
In future what happens when there ill be 60-70% neutral should we discard their votes and take the second highest position?
If you assume that a ‘neutral’ vote means “I don’t care if it’s featured or not”, then you could split the neutral vote equally between positive and negative to get a total positive vs negative score.
In this case, that would be 70% positive, 30% negative.
That is a simple treatment and does not give different weights to the votes in terms of +2, +1, 0, -1, -2 weightings.
If you do weighting then the overall result is a 35% positive feeling from the 10 voters (where the possible result ranges from 100% positive feeling to 100% negative feeling).
That would be a definite sentiment to feature it.
Based on the fact that the category is created for images that resonate with the audience, I tend to view low activity (low number of voters) and the predominance of neutral votes over all others as a negative rating.
Perhaps the issue of low activity can be solved by extending voting time, there will be a chance to get a more definite rating, and if the predominance of neutral votes remain, consider this as an argument for removal of the candidacy.
Extending the time is a good point. Also congrats on the #featured ![]()
I still think simplifying the vote to a simple yes or no would be preferable. It’s less ambiguous, and without the scale there’s less of a sense of value judgement.
Currently, I just abstain rather than vote negatively.
I agree. I think a ‘neutral’ vote is a bit confusing and redundant. If you don’t care either way, just don’t vote. If you feel one way or another, vote yes or no. Simples.
(BTW, I mean ‘you’ as in ‘if some-one doesn’t care either way…’)
I like @mythmaker’s suggestion – a yes/no poll.
What if we tried this for a while, @raghukamath? There’s an image that has 2 comments requesting featured status. I just added a yes/no poll to it.
Let’s try it. ![]()
