This thread is a friendly place to ask questions about the challenge, share your works in progress (WIPs), and even ask for help if you’re stuck.
When your submissions are ready, post them in the submission thread linked below.
UPDATE: Please post the before and after images (the level 1 vs level 100) as two separate image files in your submission post. Otherwise the winning images will not display properly in the featured gallery.
Since I like the idea of no effort vs 100% wich is a bit different that redoing an old piece, let’s try do do the two… even if I’m not sure to be able to finish that in time.
Well it’s more of a level 3 than level 1 charadesign, since I tend to not add color in my messy notes even if all the important point are here… but since I did’nt add the wing who are important let’s say that make it even. I generally keep the not clean charadesign (until krita forum sketchbook) for myself until I need to use it or hum lost them.
Level 100 tend to be more detailled and include a proprer “illustration”.
As for the redraw, an really old one who would test some of my no ability painting. (Personal challenge of sort)
When you post your before and after images (the level 1 versus level 100) please post them as two separate images in the submission post. If they are attached to each other (i.e submitted as one single file) I will not be able to post the winners in the featured gallery.
Please remember that the level 100 image is the same composition you submitted as level 1, but you are redoing it from scratch using all the skills you have available today. In other words you are demonstrating your skill level progression.
So subject and focus for the artwork stay same, but composition can be different right? Or maybe just slightly different? Say If the old piece is a portrait of someone, the new one still need to be a portrait of that same person. Would extra object be allowed? Is adding background still good? or changing lighting but not to the point day become night.
Mine is from very long time ago, so it is very barebones. I’d like to add some stuff but I will keep the subject the same and pose similar.
I think I had already done this. I recreated something I did on paper when I was a teenager I think I am not allowed to use it in the challenge since I had already posted my new creation here in the Finished Artworks section. I might play around with the rose this time. Still thinking what should I do
Yes, you can. That background and those changes are part of the transformation. There’s no clear lighting in your first image, so you can add a light source, but don’t change the atmosphere.
A question on the lighting point: if the first image has no clear source, would a soft glow from one side be enough, or does that risk changing the atmosphere too much? I like the idea of treating the background and small changes as part of the transformation rather than a separate piece. The rose variation sounds worth exploring too, since it gives you a fresh angle on something familiar without starting from nothing.
Atmosphere refers to the time of day—not to lighting or stylistic directions. As long as you don’t turn day into night . sunrise into sunset , you will be okay .good luck
