Old Comics Reticula Bundle

I created these brushes based on the brushes from ‘True Grid Texture,’ more specifically from the ‘Kraft Tone’ pack. I spent a good amount of time trying to understand how their brushes work and how I could adapt them for Krita. I admit that there’s still some noise in the halftones that I couldn’t replicate, and I’d like to refine these brushes further, but I must confess that I grew tired of trying to improve them.

This brush pack aims to simulate the printing style of old comic book magazines. There’s no need to choose the right color, as the brushes are configured to follow a Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black (CMYK) pattern. You’ll need to use the correct brushes on their corresponding layers. For example, the cyan halftone brushes should only be used on the cyan layer, the magenta brushes should only be used on the magenta layer, and so on. Keep all the colored layers in “multiply” blending mode. It might sound a bit confusing, and I apologize if my explanation isn’t perfect—English isn’t my native language, so I might mix up some words. However, I believe once you test these brushes, their functionality will become clear.

Here’s a quick example of how the color separation works across each layer:

  1. Lineart

  2. Cyan Layer

  3. Magenta Layer

  4. Yellow Layer

  5. Black Layer

  6. Lineart + Cyan (Multiply)

  7. Lineart + Cyan + Magenta (Multiply)

  8. Lineart + Cyan + Magenta + Yellow (Multiply)

  9. Lineart + Cyan + Magenta + Yellow + Black (Multiply)

This is the first time I’ve posted something here, and I hope this work can help others in the community. Any feedback is welcome, and I look forward to learning a lot and helping wherever I can.

Thank you, @Dalton_Sesoko. That’s very generous.

That last image knocks my socks off! I can almost hear the brittle paper.

Me alegro de haberte ayudado.

You’re welcome. If you have any feedback, would be glad to receive.

Very nicely done!

I’ve been using Clip Studio for a few years with Retro Supply and True grit Textures and have been wanting to move to Krita but could never find anything that came close to the Retro Supply Clolor Lab. I think you really did a great job with these brushes.

Thanks! Keep it up !

what scale would you recommend putting it on? Since the Halftone dots are so tiny that you gotta get close to the paper to see it.
(also would you release an Update for the Line brushes to be going in Opposite directions? Like left, horizontal, diagonal , straight, etc.?)
