Old wise man

Hi all, sometimes while i am testing something i get involved for more time than expected. This case deserves it because it was testing the latest change of @dkazakov in color smudge using RGBA brushtips. Super cool feature that need to be tested and opens a new door for creativity.

I am sure you are going to love this feature when finished. isn’t it?
@Voronwe13 your ideas and contribution are really welcome

The feature is based on old @Voronwe13’s patch, though hugely rewritten

@RamonM I love all the artwork and the brushes you’ve created with these features! I think there’s even yet a lot of untapped potential for even more powerful brushes using the lightness and gradient features, and I look forward to everything you and the rest of the community create with them!

Really great! But @RamonM, @Voronwe13 or @dkazakov : could you expand and tell more about the changes made? :o

The primary change is that RGBA brushtips will be usable with smudge engine brushes, which currently isn’t possible in 4.4.2. There are also some issues with the smudge engine that this fixes too.

@Voronwe13, actually, this patch will add a separate heightmap channel to Krita layers, so it might open Pandora’s box…

PS:
I had to overcome that positive feedback loop in the smudging somehow

Really Great!! I loved it!

@dkazakov yeah, I thought that was the only real solution to the positive feedback loop issue, but opening that Pandora’s box was something I didn’t want to do myself, so I’m glad to see you’re doing it

I’m curious how you’re implementing that: will there just be a single master heightmap layer, or will each paint layer have its own heightmap associated with it? Will the heightmap layer(s) be visible to the user? Those were some of the questions that made me decide not to even attempt that route

Wow, those strokes look amazing. Excited for new brushes!

Amazing! This is not in the nightly build, right? I just tried and the lightness map seems to be disabled…

I used a link provided by @dkazakov in the IRC weekly meeting of Krita. Maybe he is still updating things and improving speed and this kind of impressive things that he does usually ;). I am still testing but this time is going to be slower.

I love it already!
