One opinion about krita

I’m trying to implement the gradient fill layer, so I’ll take a look at this since some functionality overlaps (I have to admit that it took me by surprise that the filter was slow).

I agree with that so much. It is crazy how low they score krita sometimes. I only saw one reviewer once that analysis the amount of features and krita won by a landslide. To me it has surpassed PS for quite a while now people just have not caught up with it yet.

However I have a theory for PS still remaining the professional program. And that is PSD file formats and their rights they give to be read by other applications. Mari per example is like a PS simulator to the extreme and it is that interconnection that makes the wow it’s pro I feel. But it is not like it’s beyonds Krita reach to do the same in fact I assume it would be even easier since it does not need to close in a proprietary file format that likes to change every year. Like opening a KRA file directly in blender would be so cool per example.

Don’t worry. And please don’t be discouraged to initiate a debate or discourse here. I think all features should be discussed and deliberated before going to the bug list. So every idea is welcome.

@SnarkBucham
The speed of the gradient map filter was improved in the new beta (First beta of Krita 4.4.2 - Help in testing needed!). Also in the next one the gui will have the new editor (that can be tried in the gradient fill layer) and the filter will be able to use segmented gradients as well as stop gradients.
Please test and give feedback. Thanks.

Awesome! I haven’t gotten around to testing this, but it’s great to hear progress is being made :smiley:

Great :clap: :clap: :clap:, now I can use it. In my case it works perfect, thank you very much for your work.
