Paint with traced color from Layer below

Hey guys, there is one feature that I feel would be incredibly useful for many - there’s a feature in rebelle where you can set a particular layer as colour tracer (or colour picker) whilst you paint - thus eliminating the need to hide layers or only colour match what’s currently visible. This would be fantastic for generating intuitive workflow

This could plugin could help with showing and hiding a layer : I made an extension that enables you to assign a keyboard shortcut to toggle the visibility of a reference layer

A post was split to a new topic: Does rebelle work with krita

To stay consistent with other tools that use Color Labeled layers as reference, I would say this could be done by adding layer color label reference to Color Sampler tool.

Currently it has Sample All Visible Layers and Sample Current Layer options but it could have the Sample Reference Layer in a similar way Fill and Enclose and Fill tools have the option.

Another good addition to Color Sampler tool would be Exclude for chosen types of layer or again, by color label as reference. Useful when you want to exclude certain layers but not use just one as reference to pick from.

Clip Studio Paint’s solution for this:

They have “Top layer” as reference in addition to all visible and current layer to pick from, but chosen color labeled layer/s would be more powerful here. Also for Exclude in addition to set layer types a layer color label reference would be more versatile (although excluding locked layers alone would be enough).
