Hi

I’m currently playing with filters & patterns, and I was especially interested by pattern DITH_0404_WAVE.pat that I want to use as model to create a new one.

But it’s not possible to open .pat files in Krita: I had to open it in Gimp
That sound strange to have to use Gimp to create patterns for Krita, and I might miss something

If I want to open a .pat file in Krita to create a new one, do I have to open it in Gimp, save it as PNG, open PNG in Krita and then define a new custom pattern from current document?

Or is it possible to open it directly in Krita?
If yes, I’m interested with the process

You should be able to at least import a .png file as pattern. No idea about opening .pat files though, weird that it doesn’t work since Krita clearly is able to read them…

Yes, it’s was I finally did to save/import my patterns

But opening a pat file is only possible in import pattern dialog box:

It’s late now, tomorrow I’ll check/open a bug about this I think.
I guess it might be something forgotten in main dialog box, if it’s possible to open it as a pattern…

No idea about opening .pat files though, weird that it doesn’t work since Krita clearly is able to read them…

It’s not weird… There is no import filter for them, only a resource type. And we have no code to actually write .pat files.
