Paying for Krita on Steam?

Hello, I noticed on Steam you can ‘buy’ Krita!! What is the difference between the free version and the paid one?

There’s no difference.

the only difference is that steam handles auto updates for you, otherwise its the exact same

Paying for Krita on Steam is just a way to support Krita and Krita’s development. This is important because without direct donations (by Dev Fund: https://fund.krita.org/ and one-time donations: Donations | Krita) and users paying for Krita on Steam, there would be no paid developers, and no paid developers mean there is less hands to work on boring, tedious, but really important stuff. Krita has lots of volunteers too, but their work is often checked also by paid developers. So while the software is free, donating or paying for it in a store helps getting new features, better performance, and, frankly, just maintenance, which means ensuring that Krita will still work in the future on newer systems and newer hardware.

It also makes updates automatic (just like your games update automatically). You can also buy Krita on Windows Store and Epic Store. And yeah, it’s the exact same Krita you can download from the website for free.
