now i may be dumb, but I have a question about the pre-installed brushes. So I just noticed that you can re-name the brushes that come with the program. or, at least I thought (think?) the second i clicked off the brush, then tried to get it back, it disappeared. and I don’t know how to get it back. it was my favorite one. did I accidentally delete it? if I did, how do I get it back?
If you use the ‘Rename the brush preset’ button in the Brush Editor then the end result will be a new brush preset with whatever name you chose and it will have no tags.
So, if you were looking at a particular tag fitered listing in the Brush Presets docker, the newly renamed brush will not appear in that listing.
You’d need to use the ‘All’ listing to show it (and then give it a tag if you want to).
Is that what seems to have happened?
The original pre-installed brush preset hasn’t gone. It’s been marked as ‘not to be shown or used’.
If you want to make and organise personal resources, I’d suggest that you use the Save New Brush Preset button then you can give it a new name and a new icon too if you like.
Then you can create your own tags such as Alex-Inks, Alex-Cool-Textures, etc.
If you’re just ‘exploring’ and haven’t done much in the way of renaming and altering existing resources and importing or creatng new resources, it may be a good idea to delete the krita resources folder and start again with a clean slate and a more ‘structured’ approach to how you do things in that area.
