Press button+pen up and down for zoom in an out?

Is it possible to press and hold a button (for example Z) and use the pen (like move pen up or down) to zoom in and out? And if possible, how to do it? I always have to switch to the mouse wheel or the keyboars to zoom in and out and that stalls the process.

Hold CTRL + Space and then press your LMB or put your stylus on the canvas, and then you can zoom via up and down movement of your stylus or mouse.

But there is also a plugin to freely set buttons and directions, if you want me to, I can search it for you.

Edit/Add: Found it. It is from @AkiR and I only put it together so it is a ready installable plugin, you can download it from the linked post, and the description is in the posting above mine.

The easiest way to install plugins in Krita is to go to “Tools” >> “Scripts” >> “Import Python Plugin from File…”, then in the dialog that opens, specify the path to the plugin, so browse to the downloaded ZIP on your PC or Mac and select the ZIP file you just downloaded and confirm the selection (so, usually, click on the OK-Button), confirm the next dialog box as well, then restart Krita and then, depending on the plugin, set up the plugin to your liking or use it right away.

If that solves your issue, you may want to mark the topic solved. This way you can show other help seeking users with your question that they might find a solution for their issue here.
And you show helpers, that their support is at least no longer urgently needed.
Thank you!

Assuming you have a pen with side buttons and one of them is mapped to middle mouse button, you can zoom, pan, and rotate the canvas with your stylus by pressing that button and you can change modes by additionally pressing ctrl or shift on the keyboard while holding MMB on the pen (and moving the pen of course).

I have a zoom slider on my status bar. It seems to me to be a default item, as I don’t rmember putting it there. The increments are not as fine as the mouse wheel bit it works fine for me. It zooms to the center of the image on the screeen, so you would have to adjust if you were to want to zoom a corner section. That may spoil your workflow.

@NotBob: The solution to this is a lesson found in the book “Stay curious and get to know your Program’s UI well”! :upside_down_face:
In Settings → Configure Krita → General in the tab Tools set the value of Zoom steps between powers of 2 higher, and the higher you set it, the smoother it zooms …

I actually knew that, and have changed the step number to 10. At that level, the mouse wheel is still finer. I guess I should go higher. Thanks for the reminder.
