Pressing the space bar changes the layer, help

I’ll put you in context, I hold down the space bar on the keyboard and slide the pencil on the tablet to move the canvas and scroll through it easily…

With the new update, when you interact with a layer and then press the space bar, the result is that the selected layer is changed and I end up painting on a different layer than the one I wanted…

I checked the keyboard shortcuts but there is no option that allows me to disable any other function that the space bar has besides moving the canvas, I’m going to go crazy!

helpme please

Have you tried to reset the shortcut layouts yet ?

Yes, I also tried changing to different shortcut profiles, compatible with photoshop, krita default… etc… but it’s still the same! :c

Sorry I couldn’t duplicate the problem here on my end. I don’t know how much of a hassle it is but have you tried resetting Krita to factory default?

Krista has two sets of shortcuts though. One for the canvas and another for actions. The profiles are only for the actions.

I’m having the same problem and this thread Pressing the space bar selects another layer has the reason why it’s happening - the layer docker selects the top most layer with a name that starts with the character corresponding to the key just pressed, in this case a blank space (why some of my layers have blank space in front of their name is a mystery on to itself). Which is nice to know but can it not do that? Any way to disable this behaviour or maybe only invoke it with a key combo?

yep i would really have an option to disable that feature , and i would also add that the blending mode dropdown has a similar annoying behavior ( open and close the dropdown when pressing space ) this can slow down work a lot because we end up constantly fighting against the UI and just want to pick a layer and go back to drawing.
