Pressure Sensitivity Not Working Despite Multiple Solutions

Type of device* : Gaomon Tablet - with Asus Vivobook
Brand and version of the device: PD1560
System** : Windows 11 - 64it - Recently updated

I have not been able to get the pressure sensitivity on Krita to work no matter what - would greatly appreciate help because I love Krita but if this persists, will have to switch to other app.

Basically the brush that expands with pressure and narrows with less pressure is just a blunt line - if that makes sense. I have tried changing brushed that also have expansion based on sensitivity but no luck.

I have tried solution after solutions - resetting, updating EVERYTHING, making sure my pen can be used as mouse and changing from Wintab and changing to Wintab, putting pressure sensitivity in my toolbar (next to the save button, etc), playing with pen sensitivity. I am nearly positive it is Krita because I the pen sensitivity works in a tester and in the Gaomon pen sensitivity pressure test.

Sometimes I would have this issue where the pressure sensitivity wouldn’t work but after a few times of closing and reopening Krita - it would work again. This time, I have probably opened and closed more than 50 times. It was not working before AND after resets and updates - so I don’t think it’s an update issue. I even tried switching pens but no change.

I have a deadline coming up on a piece and am kind of freaking out. Can anyone help? I will be so grateful - I feel at my wits end.

Well, I have an old Wacom Bamboo, it always worked in Krita…but it had problems in Gimp and Inkscape: these last two programs were unstable and returned to normal when I configured them to recognize the table as a USB mouse.

I don’t know this Gaomon tablet. It is usually advised to update the drivers, but in my case this did not work as I reported here. Did your tablet work like the previous drivers?

One thing to try is to install a Windows 10 in a virtual machine and see if your desktop responds.

Thank you for the suggestion! I actually managed to figure it out - by some luck of update and restart combination. Had to re-dowload Krita - change to Wintab - re-dowload Gaomon drivers and Exclude Windows Ink - Restart computer - and it finally worked!

Thank you for the comment and help! Hope my solution can help someone else if they have this issue too. It feels like pure luck so might be back one day haha.

I’m glad you got it sorted out. If it ever happens again, you don’t need luck. Update the drivers and make sure both Krita and your tablet interface match when it comes to Windows Ink (both off or both on) and you’ll always be golden. Restarting Krita after each Input API change and restarting the device after a driver update is required before assessing the change.

Glad you made it.

It may be that there are remnants of files from previous installations… and that has disturbed you. I read many similar reports of installation problems with other programs.

In a computer forum that I frequented, they generally recommended removing it with Revo Uninstaller, this program removes without leaving any remains: then you just had to reinstall the program you wanted. It usually worked.
