Nothing comes out when I draw using the stylus on a drawing pad, but it works when i use a mouse. This only happens when using brushes I am still able to navigate around with the stylus. I might have accidentally changed something but i’m not sure what. Do help me out.
Hello and welcome to the forum ![]()
How long have you been using krita and which version are you using?
Which operating system are you using?
Did the stylus used to paint on the canvas before you had this problem?
Which brush preset are you using? (The name of the brush preset is shown at the left of the status bar at the bottom of the window.)
I’d suggest using ‘b) Basic-2 Opacity’ for testing if your stylus works.
Are you pressing hard enough on the stylus? Try pressing harder.
You say you ‘might have changed something’. Have you been making any changes to settings anywhere?
Does the stylus still not work if you Quit and then restart krita?
If none of the above works, try resetting the configuration:
Try resinstalling your tablet drivers.
Hello,
I’m using mac and i’ve been on krita for a few days before this happened. I’m not sure what I changed as there was a slight lag in my laptop when i was hovering around and i selected something by accident. The only brush preset it works on is basic-1. I’ve tried resetting the configuration but it’s still the same.
I know nothing about Macs but I know, from reading various forum topics, that they can have their own particular problems and peculiarities when using krita in combination with a drawing tablet.
This situation really needs a Mac user or a developer to help you with this.
The basic-1 brush preset doesn’t have pressure sensitivity so it’s only influenced by mouse/stylus position and this is probably why it works ok.
Which drawing tablet are you using?
Have you made any changes to the tablet settings using the operating system level control/utility applications?
Have you tried reinstalling the tablet drivers?
In the meantime, there’s a test that you can do to see if your drawing tablet/stylus is actually sending pressure signals to krita:
Go to Settings -> Configure Krita -> Tablet Settings and press the Open Tablet Tester button. This will open the tablet tester window, You will need to move it and resize it to make it usefully large. Draw on the grid half (on the left) with your mouse and you should get a blue line with a record (on the right half) of the mouse movements, X=… Y=… B=1.
Then draw on the grid with your pen and you should get a red line with a record of X=… Y=… B=1 P=ab.c% (DRAW)
The ab.c% value represents the pen pressure that is being sent to krita by your tablet. P=50.0% represents medium pressure and you should be able to vary it from close to zero all the way up to 100.0%. Unless this is correct and you can vary it by pressing harder or softer on your pen then krita is not getting correct pressure signals from your tablet.
Your replies to the above questions and what you see with the tablet tester would be of help in figuring out what’s happening.
Hello. I’ve tried to reinstall the tablet and it’s working again. Thank you so much for your help! ![]()
