Qingque

Hi. Just posting a quick and dirty Qingque sketch! I’m too lazy to finish it properly right now, eh, maybe some day… If it’s there in the gallery, maybe it will serve as a reminder

This took me 2 hours, mostly tweaking the rough to make it look vaguely convincing

Ah, last but not least, she’s one of the free characters in Honkai: Star Rail, and she’s an adorable slacker who’s constantly dozing off at work or sneaking out to play Mahjong. I love her.

Here are some iterations of the pose. The last one, a shameless rip-off from the in-game animation :stuck_out_tongue: Ultimately, I decided that this top-down view is more interesting to explore.

The background looks like she’s standing on wet concrete, I really like how it looks! Peculiarly awesome pair even if unintentional, green really contrasts well with that stuff!
I will keep this in mind for any concrete drawings I want to make in the future - which I’ll make, concrete is awesome and brutalist concrete arhitecture can be put in some really cool istances wink wink this is foreshadowing wink wink
Anywho,
I feel that you have maybe pushed the perspective a bit too much here; As her anatomy and ‘stance’ don’t look that natural, she warps in some places (mostly around her feet/legs and eyes).
I would advise you, if you are struggling a bit with perspective, to first put the the techincal bases before drawing (if you haven’t done that already) - just to draw the vanishing points and their respective rays for your scene (be it 1 p.p, 2 p.p, 3 p.p , fish eye etc) to help the scene’s now perspective-distorted anatomy. (Also, they don’t need to be elaborate, neither perfect, don’t stress about making the best grid - it is there to only help you after all)

As much as you draw these drawings technically, the grids, vanishing points etc will start to slowly be stored mentally too. It’s pretty funky and fun I think, our brains is such a weird pet
Anyhow, hope you have a G’day mate, and that your tea is warm! (or cold if you are into that)

Haha, I didn’t think too much about the background, just started with a gray color and decided it matches quite well. I guess you could say it was a happy accident :slightly_smiling_face:

And you are definitely right about the perspective! Looking at it today with a fresh eye, it does look just a lil bit wonky. These extreme angles aren’t too intuitive. I often use the perspective lines and assistants, but this time I skipped it and just eyeballed the constructed mannequin. This was intended to be just a quick sketch, so I didn’t want to get too bogged down in the technicalities, but it seems it’s best not to skip the important parts of the process  At least I think I got her likeness pretty well!

Oh Qingque, forgive me! I’ll do you justice the next time! :persevere::sweat_drops:

Thank you for your feedback!
