Question about import brushes from krita 4 into krita 5

i have fear that i will losing many custom brushes and important one but is there way to get it into krita 5?

i wish to try out krita 5 for animation but i fear for losing brushes from krita 4. (sorry for my english)

Hello @Marliechonky, and welcome to the forum!

Your brushes will not be lost, but all the tags you gave them will be. Also, there are a few brush packs, e.g. the “Environments 2.0” set by iForce73, or a pack from fizzyflower I know, that require you to move the brushes from their current subdirectory of the “brushes” directory to the “brushes” directory. If you need assistance with such brush packs, you can get help here in the forum.

Custom brushes that you have made, or brushes that you have modified, are usually not among those brushes where issues may occur, but even if issues occur you can ask here in the forum for support.

But in any case, it is a good idea to make a backup copy of your complete resource folder!
If you don’t know where to find your resource folder, just open Krita and in Krita open the menu ‘‘Settings’’ and then open ‘‘Manage Resources…’’ there you have to click on the button to open your resource folder, now in your resource folder you have to go one level up and leave your resource folder ‘krita’ and can copy it to a safe location so if anything does happen what not should happen, you don’t lose your resources. If you put it on your desktop or on a USB-Drive, or where ever you find appropriate, is up to you. But it’s always better to have a backup than to need a backup!

Regarding the brush packs from iForce73, I’ve converted all of them, that needed to be converted, to Krita 5-compatibility, and I’m currently preparing those of them where the license allows it for a release here in the forum. Unfortunately, I’m behind my time plan, because of a health issue I’m not able to finish the accompanying picture(s) I want to present these re-releases with.
If you should use bundles from iForce73, and need one of these bundles urgently, I’m willing to give you a link to download them without the accompanying picture(s).

i will try those advice ,once i have time. and yes ,i 've using Iforce73’s brushes and fizzyflower pack which is useful and helpful aswell. and it’s okay , i will give a try convert iforce73’s brushes pack myself ^ ^
