It’s been almost 7 years since @raghukamath set this forum up for the Krita community, together with @coding_coffee. Before that, we were mostly split over different social media platforms and websites. I remember I was still on Twitter and helping other Krita users when the forum was suddenly announced.
In those years he made sure the site stays up and running, payed for it out his own pockets and managed the community. Of course he didn’t do that alone for long. Moderators came and helped. Krita-Artist became the official site for Krita users to go to. Developers joined and KDE even came and helped with servers and stuff. With, what I think is the true open source spirit, he just went out there and started his thing and people came and joined the effort.
With these words I want to thank him for everything he’s done for the Krita community. Without him we probably wouldn’t have this forum for Krita users to find help, share works, give feedback and help others.
I also want to thank the other volunteers and all the users that regularly come to help other people with their issues, and make the community what it is.
I remember on the old KDE forum when @raghukamath sent messages out suggesting that people join the new forum he was starting up, with technical help from @coding_coffee.
I wasn’t sure at first but I’m very glad that I joined.
Thank you Raghu, for starting it up and keeping it going and then making sure that it could keep going even without your regular attention. You created something wonderful
I’m so grateful to @raghukamath for what he started and built here.
And also to the entire community who continues to amaze me with their spirit of generosity, be it helping each other with art challenges, sharing plugins, or @Michelist’s enormous vault of brush info.
Also, thank you @Takiro for stepping into the admin role.
This also shows that Open Source is not only about code. Many people contributed to Krita and this forum without ever writing a single line of code. By sharing their experiences and ideas, giving feedback, helping others. Sure the code is important but the collaboration is what makes it special.
I still remember that before the forum existed, when new Krita users in my area asked me where to get Krita brush resources, I could only awkwardly tell them to search for it. Now, I just need to direct them here.
Thanks to @raghukamath and @coding_coffee, as well as others who help maintain the forum, for bringing such a convenient place for communication and sharing to Krita users and developers around the world.
Thank you, everyone, for your efforts. I hope you all know that you’ve done wonderful work or this community, and I’m genuinely really happy to be here. Checking up on what new threads were posted, if someone shared their custom resources, etc., it all really does brighten my day every time I check in!

thank you for making this into what it is today @raghukamath .. i was long looking for a platform where i could connect with likeminded and other artist , but non of the ones i found really keept it the way i wanted it.. untill i found KA.

I really thank @halla and krita core team for trusting me with the forum. Without the encouragement given by them this was not possible. I wish this forum lives on and earns it place as the best Art software forum in the internet hall of fame. I wish Krita to be the go to software for all the people in countries such as mine or where the resources are scarce. Krita gives hope for people like me and countless others. I hope it shines even brighter.
I got busy with life so I decided to retire and Takiro came as a savior in time , I will still be a member of the forum and I will try to help people whenever I get time.
Running this forum has thought me the meaning of the phrase “patience is virtue”. It has thought me how to handle my own emotions on the internet. When I look back at my own communication and messages, I often think may be I should have been a bit more calm. So it was a wonderful journey. I would also suggest people to be empathetic and also be kind to others. Current state of internet is geared towards making one angry or amplifying their emotions I would suggest people to resist this mania :). Keep helping others and build a warm place for everyone.
Thank you so much for making this amazing space in the internet @raghukamath . Thanks to it i managed learn how to code from zero with the help of everyone here. All my stuff only exists because of this forum. As for help outside was insulring and demoralizing when it even existed, and here people just helped clearing choke points despite the skill level of the person asking. It came to the point that even googling would land an answer from the forum because everywhere else was gone, just to show the impact it has. So i must say a super big thanks for this comunity and i really hope good vibes and good arts for everyone.
This seems to be the story of my entire internet journey. I think step one is assume everybody is doing their best and not being intentionally “bad.” Anyway, I always found you to be very patient and helpful. I think you were the best of all admins I have encountered.
Thank you @raghukamath for setting up the forum and for the years of service keeping it up. I bounce a lot of forums through out the years, and only this that I stick with and even comeback to when I thought I couldn’t draw anymore.
I’ve wondered for a while if this would come to pass, but to actually read that thread title was a shock!
Thank you for all the time, energy and love you put into creating and nurturing this project we all benefit from.
I feel sad to lose you as our lord and overseer, but I’m glad to hear you will still be around as a member. I hope at least you’ll have more time now for your own needs, and perhaps we’ll see new artwork from you in the near future?
It’s strange to read that because I think of you as being very accommodating, patient and cool-headed; so much so that it was kind of funny to see you lose your cool every once in a while!
It’s the reason I’ve missed having you around as much as life placed more demands on you time - because I felt you brought such a positive energy to the forum.
Anyway - Here’s to the future! A toast to you good sir!
