Reference layers in Krita?

I guess this might be more a request … but I was looking for reference layers in Krita, as in Procreate and Clip Studio … not to be confused with reference photos, windows or images.

For those unaware, Reference layers allows one to work on one or multiple layers, which uses reference to a another chosen layer for color, selection, etc …

Might this be possible currently? Or possibly could it be an added feature?

Is this similar to the clone brush or clone layer in Krita? That’s were you can have source layers that get “referenced” while painting somewhere else.

No i don’t think it’s the same … not to do with cloning.
If one has a reference layer, then adds a layer(s) above, one can select areas for paint, style, effect etc as if one was was on the chosen reference layer … not sure if I defined it properly

Krita does not have that feature at the moment. What you can do is reference layers by their color label in some places, like the fill tool. But you cannot mark layers specifically as reference yet.
