Remove Shadow from image

Hello!

I’m new to krita, sorry if it’s a pretty basic question.

I just downloaded an image from Google and plan to use it in my game. It is an eyeball and comes with a shadow at the bottom of the sphere as if it is being illuminated from above. I would like to remove the shadow so that it has uniform lighting.

I tried selecting the shadow and adjusting the brightness, but it makes a clear difference between the selection and the rest of the image.

How should I get rid of the shadow?

Thank you!

Unless you redraw that part you basically can’t, the shadow is backed in. No amount of filters will make it go away.

You also have to be careful with taking pictures “off google” depending on your use you could get in trouble for copyright violation if the graphics isn’t license free.

I’m not using it for any commercial purpose, just for prototyping, so it will not be a problem.

About the shadow, I think there must be a solution even if it is not perfect. Color information stills there, so I think if I could make something like a gradient brightening I must be able to get rid of it.

You can lighten it up or straight up replace the color but you don’t get the details back like the veins and texture that is completely erased by the black of the shadow. You basically just get a different colored shadow. It’s probably easier to just Google for a different image if it’s only for prototyping.

@Ronia Please add a link after the image to show where you downloaded it from.
