Resources Library - Request

Hello,
I love this website and especially for the Resources link. To see all the plugins, brushes and ideas in general, created by the Krita community and developpers is fantastic !

Unfortunately, it’s really complicated to find something specific in this category.
I was wondering if, after the presence in the resources category, it would be possible to put the more used, downloaded, discussed (i don’t know wich condition would be the more suitable) resources, in a library, on this website, with classification, depending of artist are looking for. (brush, link with other software like blender or godot, android compatibility, and so on).
On the visual, i’m thinking at what other open source software provides and clip studio paint and the way their resources can be found. The Krita shared resources are way better and it’s so sad to not browse its more easily.

The link could be directly on the opening page of Krita, with the news of new releases.
And it would be way more natural for artist to improve and personalise the way they use Krita and communicating with devs and other contributors, which is one of the big strengh of Krita !

Thank you to anyone happy to rebound on this subject and especially to the persons working on this website.

This forum is an off the shelf software we can customize only to some extend and the moderators don’t have the time to check and curate all resources in a separate topic. We have to rely on the resource creators themselves to properly tag and name their topics so they can easily be found with the search function.

Thank you for your answer.
I understand these two points. So maybe this could be done on the principal website, where we already are downloading Krita.
And the creators could continue to put their resources in the proper tag.
And i really think that a link to “Resources” should be on the home page of Krita, under the news about the update releases. A link to the forum would be nice too, but the “Resources” is the base of the evolution of Krita itself, so maybe it’s a priority. And being there we can see all the things that the forum has to offer :slightly_smiling_face:

Some Plug-Ins have made it into the manual but generally it is hard to tell what is actually popular or useful since we don’t have any metrics (especially since they are hosted off site, like on the creators GitHub or their website) and everyone has their own opinion about what is useful.

Krita had a centralized place for resources once but:

So it is not out of question but with the core team fully involved with Krita already there are currently no people left to make this work and keep it maintained.

this topic already came up a few times. Everyone agrees this would be a cool thing to have but for now it doesn’t seem like it’s happening anytime soon.

Thank you for the link to find this discussion. I understand the difficulties. I really hope it will happen one day.
Is there, somewhere, a place where we can see a list of all the requests made about Krita ? If someone is working on, it and things like that ?

And about the Krita’s home page, i think it could be really nice to have a Resource link on it !This considering that casual users of Krita, sometimes even don’t know that this forum exists. It should be one of the first thing we see, with the updates, when we are opening Krita for the first time.
This way, new users can see the difference between this software and others, which is the community working to make Krita evolve.

there is the Develop > Feature Requests category but the decentralized nature of Krita’s development makes it hard to know who works on what. For the core team I think there is a newsletter or a mailinglist somewhere but I don’t really know.

Thank you for all your answers, i will continue to follow the other “gathering the resources” you indicated, and will look at this feature requests link :slightly_smiling_face:
Have a really good day !

Have you already tried all the sorting features for the Resources category?

In this image, I’m showing Plugins only. You can instead choose brushes or tutorials. Additionally, still in that top menu row, you can click on “top” to see which ones are most popular or have the most activity.

Then, once you have all the resources on the screen, you can use the sorting feature directly above the search results to sort everything even further.
