"Sample Count at Max Speed" doesn't work

I don’t seem to be able to make the “Sample Count at Max Speed” stabilizer setting work.

For testing purposes I tried setting max at 1000 and min at 3 and the other way around, but only Min value works, regardless of going fast or slow.

Tablet or mouse, it behaves the same. What could the reason be? Or is it just broken?

Arch / 5.3.2.1 appimage (but the same happens on 6.x) / hyprland

iirc, those are actually made/work for “heavy” smoothing option only

Yes it’s not designed correctly, it only really works for the Weighted smoothing option. When you pick Stabilizer, it sets the stabilization according to the speed at the start of the stroke, but then never again during the stroke, which is pretty useless.

This is fixable, but from my testing it unfortunately it really needs a curve to feel good, not the linear transition that the two sliders give you. So the fix is a bit involved.

So like the pressure curve graph.

Is this an already reported issue, or something that should be made into a feature request?

Mhh I don’t think there’s a reported issue, but I’ll make a bug report for it. I hadn’t made one originally because I’d planned to just submit a fix, but now that it turned out to be a bigger issue that probably won’t happen soon.
