Saving as a .kra document after .png

So I have noticed after I updated to 5.1 that when I save something as a .png that I can’t go back and save it to .kra again. Is anyone else having this issue? I don’t want to have to use the button to save as a krita document from the png menu and have my files be names something like “filename.png.kra”

Yes, that’s how Krita works. If you want a png version of the project you’re working on, you must select “export.” Otherwise you are telling Krita to turn your .kra document into a png.

EDIT: Export, not “save as” as I had originally typed. That was a dumb error.

Heya! You have to scroll back up to the top, it’s just outside of the window.

Might I suggest using export when trying to save as PNG? That way it doesn’t switch your default ctrl+s to .png

Oh I didn’t realize I had to scroll up, thank you! The only reason I don’t export is because I’m just so used to hitting ctrl+s and I prefer just switching between the two since it’s easier for me

Then why don’t you set up a shortcut for export and assign an easy to remember key combination to the shortcut? You can find “Export” under ‘‘Settings’’ >> ‘‘Configure Krita’’ >> ‘‘Keyboard Shortcuts’’ at ‘‘Menu’’ >> ‘‘File’’.
